At the center of the conversation is a more nuanced understanding of barrier repair. Dr. Thornfeldt explains why ceramides alone don’t tell the full story—and how cholesterol, ceramides, and free fatty acids must work together in appropriate relationships to support barrier architecture. The discussion also challenges some of skincare’s most persistent assumptions.
