Last weekend God blessed me with an opportunity to make history, being the 1st BLACK woman to report within this tournament that has been being held in Danville, IL since 1994 and 30 years later God aligned me to get on the scene. This was a moment I was able work on my craft of journalism and work as the analyst for the DIV II NJCAA tournament and it was an experience I’ll forever remember.

Stay consistent and your gift will make room for you. What is meant for you, will be!! 💙🙏🏾

As I sit here typing this, tears of joy and gratitude are falling because I truly don’t have the words to express how thankful I am for what God has done through this group of young women.

Coming back to coach at my alma mater was never part of my plan, but God clearly had other plans.

As the sprints coach, I remember looking at the record board and seeing my name still on it after 10+ years. My first thought wasn’t pride it was, “Why are they still there?” Records are meant to be broken.

This season our motto was simple: “Let’s Make History.”

And that’s exactly what these young ladies did.

The girls had the #1 relays in 2A all season, broke five school records, produced two State Champions, finished 2nd in the state in the relays, and 2nd in the state as a team; something never before accomplished in Danville girls track and field history.

People see the trophy, but they don’t always see the tears, pain, sacrifices, setbacks, and faith that came with it. "No pain, no podium". Nothing worth having comes easy.

As a coach, you hope to be an example and pour into others what was poured into you. I hope I was able to do that because these young ladies have blessed my life with memories I’ll cherish forever. I love them all and couldn’t be more proud.

When God gives you a vision, He will help bring it to life. Stay faithful. Keep working. Trust Him.

More than anything, I pray these girls leave knowing that what may seem impossible to man is always possible with God.

Tell me that’s not God.

Forever grateful. Forever blessed.

Now let’s see what comes next for Coach E. ❤️🏆🙏🏾

Had the pleasure of speaking to college media students from around the country about my journey, my purpose, and everything God has allowed me to overcome along the way. It’s truly a blessing to be in rooms like this, pouring into the next generation and sharing my story in hopes of inspiring others to keep chasing their dreams. Grateful for every opportunity and every step of the journey. 🎤🩷

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬… 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭. 🤎

To be the first Black woman to cover the NJCAA men’s basketball tournament, and to do it two years in a row means everything to me.

There are moments that feel heavy, overwhelming, and almost unbearable… but I don’t quit. I stay faithful and keep working.

Now I’m walking in purpose and doing it better each year. That’s what legacy looks like—not just being the first, but making sure I’m not the last.

If God gives you a vision, keep going… because what’s meant for you will always find you. ✨ by @emone.davis
