We’re thrilled to announce Emone’ Davis as the moderator for our WNBA All-Star Weekend panel! ✨

Emone’ brings the drive of a lifelong competitor to the mic. A standout track and field athlete at Illinois, she was a Big Ten Champion in the 100m, a school record holder in the 60m, 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m, and an All-American in the 4x100m relay. Her competitive career started early — she was part of the 2015 Women’s Hershey’s National 1st Place team and a four-time letterwinner and All-Conference honoree in high school.

Basketball runs in the family too — her sister, Eriel Davis, played for Illinois Women’s Basketball. 🏀

Emone’ has always had her sights set on becoming a sportscaster, and as a rising media talent, this panel is the perfect stage for her to lead the conversation. 🎙️

Come see her in action as she guides the discussion with our panelists on basketball, mental health, and the journey to the next level.

Wow, what a season 3RIPLE CROWN CHAMPION

D’Mario and I started this journey three years ago when he was coming out of 8th grade. From day one, we believed becoming a State Champion in Illinois was possible, but we knew it would take hard work, trust, dedication, and faith in God.

His freshman and sophomore years, he made the state finals, but our goal was never just to make it to state. Our goal was to leave as a champion.

This year, he did exactly that.

Months ago, we talked about having a historic season. We believed it, worked for it, and trusted the process every step of the way.

As the season progressed, I made a coaching decision that wasn’t popular at first. I wanted D’Mario to run the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Not everyone agreed with it, including D’Mario. But as a coach, my job is to do what’s best for my athletes, not what’s most popular.

I knew that since he wants to compete at the Division I level, he needed to be more than a great 100m and 200m runner. He needed to be able to dominate the 400m too. We adjusted the training, trusted the vision, and prepared for this moment.

The result:

🏆 3x Conference Champion
🏆 3x State Finalist
🏆 State Champion – 100m
🏆 State Champion – 200m
🏆 State Champion – 400m

Triple Crown State Champion.

A feat accomplished only five times in Illinois history.

I’m beyond proud of the young man he’s become since I met him as an 8th grader. More than the records and championships, I’m proud of the trust he showed throughout this journey.

D’Mario, thank you for trusting me as your coach and trusting the process. Watching your growth over the last three years has been an honor.

Enjoy this moment, you earned it!!

But we’re not done yet.

There’s still unfinished business. Division I is calling, and I know God has even bigger plans ahead. 💪🏾🏆🥇 by @emone.davis

As I sit here typing this, tears of joy and gratitude are falling because I truly don’t have the words to express how thankful I am for what God has done through this group of young women.

Coming back to coach at my alma mater was never part of my plan, but God clearly had other plans.

As the sprints coach, I remember looking at the record board and seeing my name still on it after 10+ years. My first thought wasn’t pride it was, “Why are they still there?” Records are meant to be broken.

This season our motto was simple: “Let’s Make History.”

And that’s exactly what these young ladies did.

The girls had the #1 relays in 2A all season, broke five school records, produced two State Champions, finished 2nd in the state in the relays, and 2nd in the state as a team; something never before accomplished in Danville girls track and field history.

People see the trophy, but they don’t always see the tears, pain, sacrifices, setbacks, and faith that came with it. "No pain, no podium". Nothing worth having comes easy.

As a coach, you hope to be an example and pour into others what was poured into you. I hope I was able to do that because these young ladies have blessed my life with memories I’ll cherish forever. I love them all and couldn’t be more proud.

When God gives you a vision, He will help bring it to life. Stay faithful. Keep working. Trust Him.

More than anything, I pray these girls leave knowing that what may seem impossible to man is always possible with God.

Tell me that’s not God.

Forever grateful. Forever blessed.

Now let’s see what comes next for Coach E. ❤️🏆🙏🏾
