THE BOYS PT 3: PAYBACK

Alongside the seven, I wanted to make the second biggest team, Payback. While their role in the books isn’t as big as they had in the series, especially with soldier boy and stormfront being main characters and the rest of the team being the focus of season 3, I still really liked them in the comics. Opposed to the overtly evil and terrible teams, payback was always just kind of a group of weak cowards in my interpretation outside of stormfront.

Stormfront was one of the first villains in the series that I actually was worried about for the team. Because instead of a weak sniveling coward being brutalized by the boys, he was an actually competent supervillain who was in it for more then just money and fame. For the figure, I wanted to incorporate a flap jacket design while leaving the rest of the figure more or less the same as the comic design.

For soldier boy, It was mostly my own design but inspired by the WWII Avenging squad version, with the modern versions color scheme. I opted for silver over white to make him look more modern and overdesigned instead of campy and weak.

Same idea goes for the rest of these figures, who are mostly interpretations of the characters if they were made in the present day and even had films for them. I wanted to lean into MCU-esque designs without going balls to the wall with panels and clashing tones. I overall like how these turned out and Mindroid was easily the toughest to paint due to all his lines and color patches.

THE BOYS PT 2: THE SEVEN

One of my favorite parts of the entire comic series were the supes, from the crappy throwaway ones seen in wide panels to the seven and the various other super teams the boys faced. The seven were such a looming threat all while being so incompetent and ridiculous you almost wondered how they weren’t dead sooner. One thing I appreciate about the books was how the Seven operated more as a frat, and less as a real team.

I wanted to make these characters in my own interpretations, borrowing from both the comics and the show’s designs. For some like A train, Maeve, and Homelander, I tried to make those designs as visually distinct and original as possible, and I based A-Train off his comic counterpart as I loved Jessie T Usher’s version too much, and felt that it was more fitting to have the comic version in all his douchebaggery. Marathon, Lamplighter, Jack, and The Deep, I just wanted to slightly alter their comic designs to fight a more cohesive theme.

Noir and Starlight are almost ripped from the show, but Noir is far simpler and sleeker while Annie just has a few tweaks

THE BOYS PT.1

Now that the finale has wrapped up the series, I figured it would be appropriate to show off the customs I’ve made, which are a combination of both the comic and show designs. This is only the Boys, and The Seven should come out tomorrow and Payback on Friday.

Although the finale, and the last season as a whole were pretty flawed, I did still enjoy this last season despite the online discourse of it. When I began reading comics in 2019 right before the pandemic because of my dad, this show, and the comics as a result were pretty impactful when I first started reading comics.

Yes, the comics are gratuitius and yes, they are a little TOO crass for my liking, my favorite part was the parodies of the supes, and The Boys themselves. The narrative of rage and revenge and the different ways it affects our lives and the ones we care about around us was my favorite part above all else.

I think the 3 biggest changes in public perception of this series that has ultimately muddled the discourse of it is the youtube video about how bad the comics are, tiktok larping the comics and everyone saying the same thing about how flawed this season was.

GREEN LANTERN

Two weeks ago, Hal Jordan left a bar drunk with his best friend Thomas. At an intersection, William Hand ran a stop sign and crashed into them. Thomas died.

Returning to the crash site, Hal finds a downed spaceship. Inside, dying Green Lantern Abin Sur passes him his ring. Hal is destined to be the greatest lantern of all time.

Bestowed with power, he flies toward Hand’s house wanting justice. Hovering above it, he accepts the truth. Thomas died because Hal drove drunk. He turns to leave before catching a glimpse through the window. Bodies. Frozen limbs. Hand lunges out and stabs him. Hal tries to construct a lethal weapon but the ring refuses. He drops Hand with a precision blast.

Three lanterns: Sinestro, John Stewart, and Stel descend and bring Hal to OA.

Hal trains under John. Their first mission takes them to Aoran to apprehend Evil Star, a scientist who killed a lantern. John falls into a coma. Hal defeats Evil Star alone.

Sinestro pulls Hal aside. Abin Sur was investigating Kanjar Ro, a trader holding knowledge that could diminish the Corps. The two travel to Qward, where Weaponers capture them both.

Hal breaks free and stumbles into Sinestro’s confrontation with Kanjar.

Sinestro removes his ring, kills him, and vanishes, telling Hal they don’t share the same vision.

Hal returns to OA to find lanterns slaughtered leading to the central power battery. Sinestro stands before it.

Hal begins to lose until..

A recovered John arrives. Together they arrest Sinestro.

In his cell, Sinestro hands Hal a mysterious rod, a key that opens the battery, releasing an impurity the Guardians locked inside. The Guardians have been suppressing all emotion across the galaxy, crushing every other corps. The key can only be used by someone who has completely overcome fear.

Hal laughs and shuts the cell door. Then he pockets the key, unsure who to believe.

SUICIDE SQUAD

- Floyd Lawton has lived a life drawn by cash and bullets, the very thing that led him to Amanda Waller.

- Waller presents Task Force X: Deadshot, Plastique, Bronze Tiger, Boomerang, Count Vertigo, Metallo, Atomic Skull, and Rick Flag.

- The mission: dismantle KOBRA, a global cult engineering collapse in the name of peace, or serve a longer sentence for defying. Floyd resents her not for cruelty, but for the obviousness of the choice.

- Flag leads the group, yet Bronze Tiger and Floyd override him constantly.

- In Nicaragua, KOBRA proves to be true believers, engineers, farmers, aid workers, demolishing a trade center and destabilizing the economy before fleeing.

- Once the squad tracks KOBRA to Cuba, the mission bleeds. Vertigo dies in an assault in Cuba, meaning someone talked. Atomic Skull dies when arrogance brings a ceiling down on him. Neither death means much. The mission continues as Metallo quietly slips away.

- Further in the very dimly lit Cuban compound, Flag and Floyd find KOBRA’s archive with fifteen years of proof that US officials have deliberately destabilized foreign nations for resource extraction. Flag reads it first.

- Floyd watches him work through the collapse of everything he’s served. Flag says nothing and grabs his rifle. Floyd will resent that silence for the rest of his life.

- The lights flick on. KOBRA floods the corridor. Tiger saves Floyd from a gunshot, so Floyd chases the high priest to his office.

- He sits, waiting in ceremonial fashion. He asks if Floyd has read the archive as he questions Floyd’s loyalty.

- Floyd shoots him without a second thought, tucks the archive away, and tells everyone it was destroyed.

- Waller debriefs them, delivers exoneration, and never asks about the archive. That bothers Floyd more than anything else. The four walk out free. Metallo walks out alone. Flag shakes Waller’s hand and returns to service.

- Floyd keeps the archive and his mouth shut. He doesn’t know what to do with his anger yet. But he knows one thing. The next shot he takes will be his.

BATMAN: WAR GAMES

- Gotham has grown more dangerous over three years despite Batman’s presence. When Dick Grayson’s parents are killed in front of Bruce, he takes the boy in as his ward.

- Three months later, Barbara Gordon, Oracle, sends Bruce to a coastal hospital where Pyg has four victims wired to explode. Pyg screams that Gotham is larger than Bruce thinks in paranoia, mentioning the Court, before Wrath intervenes and accidentally lets Pyg escape. Bruce disarms the bomb and warns Wrath to stay out of his city if he’s going to be this foolish.

- Returning home battered, Bruce accidentally reveals the Batcave to a newly awakened Dick. “I am Batman.” Dick is ecstatic, desperate for revenge on Zucco. Bruce sends him upstairs.

- Alfred convinces Bruce the only way to protect Dick is to train him to fight for a better world instead of punishing it. Training begins at dawn.

- Two weeks later, the gang war between Black Mask and the Escabedo Cartel has quarantined entire districts. Oracle alerts Bruce to a warehouse threat. Robin begs to join and is denied.

- En route, Orpheus leaps onto the Batmobile, the tip was a diversion from the GCPD. The gangs are fighting downtown.

- Robin breaks out anyway and tracks down tracks Pyg.

- Wrath arrives before them, and is shot dead by Black Mask.

- Robin defeats pyg and is escapes into downtown gotham.

- As Batman and Orpheus fight through the gangs, Diego Escabedo raises a gun at an exposed Bruce. Orpheus steps in front of the shot and dies.

- Dick tears through the remaining gang members and knocks Diego out, giving Bruce enough time to lunge at Roman. Bruce nearly kills him before Dick grabs his arm and forces him to stop as the police arrive.

- At home, Bruce forces Dick to quit. Dick cries and retreats. Bruce breaks down beside Alfred, terrified he has ruined the boy’s life. Alfred gestures to an envelope. Bruce opens it. “I hope you’ve had fun, Bruce. But the night is still young. The owls are watching.” A small owl eye stamped at the bottom.

WONDER WOMAN

- Diana of Themyscira has spent years across South America protecting the vulnerable. Her latest target is INFERNO, an eco-terrorist group led by Heatstroke. She tracks them to Manaus, Brazil, battles Heatstroke, and prevents an attack on a LordTech facility before INFERNO flees into the Amazon.

- Ambushed in the rainforest, Diana is rescued by three Amazonian women, Artemis, Nubia, and Yara Flor.

- Themyscira fell during a secret Nazi siege in World War Two, and the survivors fled under Antiope, settling as a tribe deep in the Amazon.

- The three disagree on LordTech, Artemis wants it destroyed, Nubia and Yara disagree.

- That night Diana slips away to confront the facility’s leadership. A tribe elder stops her, telling her hippolyta wouldn’t want her to kill. Diana smiles, nods, and leaves.

- At dawn, Maxwell Lord arrives with General Glory. Glory ambushes Diana from behind. Glory loses in one and a half minutes. Inside, a soldier reveals Lord has already sent forces to the tribe. Diana races back terrified.

- She arrives to find the Amazons apparently beat. She defeats every soldier, until the bodies dissolve, revealing the soldiers were the Amazons, disguised by magic. The elder steps forward. She reveals herself as Circe, an occultist who killed the pregnant Hippolyta long ago out of jealousy. Upon resurrection, Hippolyta’s grief was so profound she sculpted Diana from clay, and the gods granted her life. Circe plans to kill Diana, enrage the gods into returning, then kill them with Diana’s own power and ascend.

- As Circe mocks Diana for killing her own kind, Diana reminds her of their conversation earlier. Diana falls as Yara and Artemis pin Circe. Nubia pins her with the spear.

- Diana charges, power surging through her. “I am Diana of Themyscira. Daughter of Queen Hippolyta! DAUGHTER OF NO MAN. I. AM. WONDER WOMAN.” She strikes with everything she has, exposing Circe’s true form. Circe laughs, promises to return, and vanishes.

- Diana throws Glory at Maxwell Lord’s feet and gives him two months to demolish the facility himself. Then she heads to North America.

SUPERMAN: PUBLIC ENEMY PART ONE

- Framed for Parasite’s death, Clark seeks help. John Stewart is blocked by Guy Gardner over Guardian fears. The Batman of Gotham declines. Clark turns to Terrific.

- The two map everything they know before the Justice Legion crashes in, General Glory, Silver Sorceress, Crimson Fox, and Tasmanian Devil. Holt’s office is destroyed in the brawl. Terrific dismantles Glory. Holt pulls Clark clear, allowing Clark to drop the remaining three, and they escape.

- At Holt’s safe apartment, Clark makes a decision. He’ll draw every eye in Metropolis while Holt works the evidence. He flies to where Parasite died and tries to make a public statement. A gunshot interrupts him.

- The Suicide Squad (Atomic Skull, Metallo, Plastique, Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Guardian) arrives, funded by Lionel Luthor and run by Amanda Waller.
 - They batter Superman from every angle. Metallo’s core bleeds him dry. Clark finds the upper hand and loses it just as fast.

- Amidst this, Holt broadcasts everything, from impossible heat signatures, LexCorp contracts with Stagg Industries for the chemicals in Rudy’s blood, documents referencing the Supermen Project, to footage of Metallo leaving the bunker. Every piece leads to Lionel Luthor.  - Waller stands the Squad down as Lionel is arrested.  - Clark thanks Holt and proposes an ongoing partnership. Holt accepts.  - Crimson fox, Tasmanian Devil, Aztek and Blujay depart the Legion, with new members taking their place.   - As Clark and Lois reconnect after his journey, Lex sits in his father’s office, scrolling through the documents with cold fury. Earlier, passing Clark’s closet, he’d caught a glimpse of the suit. Lex now knows everything. What he does with it remains to be seen.

SUPERMAN: PUBLIC ENEMY PART ONE

- On a bustling Metropolis morning, Clark Kent and Lois Lane attend a press conference between Luthorcorp, Stagg industries, HoltTech, and Kord Industries. As Clark prepares his question for Lionel Luthor, Joseph Martin, the Atomic Skull, crashes through the ceiling.

- Clark pulls Lex, Lionel Luthors son, from falling debris, and the two share a brief, genuine moment before Clark vanishes into the crowd and…

- Superman emerges! Mister Terrific arrives to assist, but Superman redirects him toward civilians while he subdues Joseph alone.

- Afterwards, Amanda Waller and Rick Flag arrive to detain the metahuman. With Superman promising to visit Joseph.

- Back at his apartment, Lois confronts Clark. She knows who he truly is. He confesses, apologizes, and the two embrace, ready to face his life together.

- That night, in an unmarked Luthorcorp bunker, Metallo, a cybernetically enhanced mercenary working under Lionel’s direction, experiments on S.T.A.R Labs janitor Rudy Jones, infusing his cells with something that turns his skin a deep, sickly purple.

- The next morning, Lex visits Clark personally, bearing gifts and a car key that Clark politely declines. Lex promises to help clark if need be, as he leaves. As the door closes, a broadcast interrupts. The Parasite is tearing through Metropolis, and the Justice Legion is outclassed.

- After getting Lois an apology breakfast, He arrives to find the Justice Legion nearly defeated.

- Despite their harder edge, Superman works alongside them well.

- As superman lands his final punch, Parasite explodes, dissolving across the pavement in a bubbling mass of acidic purple. Clark, desperate, reaches for what’s left of Rudy as the Legion attacks Clark.

- With no other choice, he breaks away. Someone turned Rudy Jones into a weapon and pointed him at Clark like a bomb. With him being the most popular man in the country, Clark needs to figure out who is behind this, and fast.

THE FLASH

- In Central City, Barry Allen works at S.T.A.R. Labs alongside his best friends Cisco Ramon, Ryan Choi, and Ralph Dibney, Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein, experimenting with artificial meta genes after Barry was informed of his lost destiny as a superhero. On July 4th, a miscalculation during a particle accelerator trial triggers a massive EMP blast, granting powers to countless individuals across the city, including not just Barry, but the criminals within.

- Barry reveals his abilities to his friends the next morning, and together they begin training as he operates under the name “The Red Blur.”

- Meanwhile, a superpowered gang called the Rogues begins terrorizing Central City with heists.

- As barry attempts to confront them, the rogues teach him quickly how out of depth he is.

- Overwhelmed and undertrained, Barry hesitates to step in, visiting girlfriend Iris and her brother Wally, who had recently fallen ill. As Barry and Wally spend the night playing video games, Barry hopes a more experienced hero steps in.

- That night, Ryan Choi, Central City’s most experienced protector and Barry’s best friend, tracks the Rogues alone to a dockside warehouse. He’s overpowered and accidentally killed by the Pied Piper, devastating Barry and crossing a line for the Rogues.

- Grief-stricken and furious for his failure, Barry seeks out Oliver Queen, a former Checkmate operative and friend of his older brother Malcolm. Over two brutal weeks, Oliver trains Barry until he’s ready.

- When Barry continues to doubt himself, Oliver fires an arrow at his skull. Barry catches it an inch from his face. Completing Barry’s final test, Ollie walks out of the room, reassuring Barry that he’s ready.

- Barry races off, confronting the Rogues, without Pied Piper, who seems to have gone off the radar, at Central City Bank. They engage in a grand battle, with Barry using not just his powers, but his brain, to finally defeat them.

- Now secure in his role as a hero, He emerges from S.T.A.R. Labs as Central City’s Scarlet Speedster, The Flash.

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT

- Bruce Wayne’s parents trained him since childhood. On his twenty-sixth birthday, they were assassinated. Bruce traveled to the League of Shadows, where he met Talia Al Ghul, shared one night with her, and learned the League’s only connection to Thomas was through member Ben Turner. He left for Gotham the next morning, promising to return.

- Back in Gotham as the Dark Knight, Bruce targeted the Black Mask gang, stopping a mugging before being beaten severely and sniped by a masked man.

- Bleeding out and evading the GCPD, he hid in a dumpster where a bat crawled across the garbage. Inspired, he grafted trash bags to his sweater into a makeshift wingsuit and soared across Gotham’s alleyways with his grapple gun while police helicopters gave chase.

- He runs into Gordon, who knocks him out, but covers for him.

- Later, Gordon interrogates him, before thanking Bruce for saving his daughter from the Black Masks. He shared intel on not only Roman Sionis, but also Floyd Lawton, top hitman, mysteriously pardoned by A.R.G.U.S’s Amanda Waller.

- Bruce hunted him to a trailer, beat the truth out of him: the Red Hoods hired the shot, then Bruce paged Gordon to collect him.

- A tip comes in: masked men inside ACE Chemicals. Bruce clears the building and found the Red Hood himself inside. They clashed, the Red Hood slipped, and crashed through a rusted guardrail into a vat of acid. Bruce couldn’t reach him in time.

- Scared, he fled through the roof as the GCPD flooded in. Gordon brought Bruce back and agreed to a working partnership, calling him the bat, a name Barbara had given him. Bruce confesses his guilt, Gordon tells him it wasn’t his fault.

- That night, Bruce built his armor. He drove to Sionis Industries, crashed into Roman’s office, and beat him to the edge of the building until Sionis agreed to dissolve the Black Masks. Bruce let him send the order, then knocked him out. As the GCPD rushed in, Bruce glided out into Gotham’s dark skies.

- From her window, Barbara watched him drift across the city. “Is that the bat?” Gordon smirked. “No hon’, that’s Batman.”
