Dreamy and surreal silk fans performance.

I recently gave silk fans a better try. For me in comparison to other tools, they carry the element of air — light, flowing, and ever-changing.
Each movement with these connect me to the invisible little winds around us giving them a way to be seen.

It all started with being bored of "just partying" at festivals back in 2014: after leaving the dancefloor at night because I felt surrounded by zombies I stopped at the fire stage. I was immediately captivated by these people dancing with several objects seeming dreamy but completely present. ✨
It was other-worldly and so beautiful that I sat and cried. Soon I got to know this is called flow arts, and started with hula & poi. Mostly for myself, therapeutically, feeling immersed. Some years later fans, snakes, double hoop and triple poi joined. Then I discovered Ropedart. I also tried out fire eating and spitting 🔥

When I started, I never intended to "perform", I was drawn in by the magic that I perceived in people when they were flowing without knowing that they were being watched at. There is a wonderful word in German for this called "Anmut".

Well it has been a journey. 🙏 This video captures some chapters of it :).

My silk fans have been lying in a drawer for quite a while and I've been using them marginally to beautify other performances. I knew though that there is - again - a lot of technique to be learned and a whole universe to explore with them.

So I recently embarked on this journey exploring lightness and tenderness.
