Made this painting over the past couple of days. Not sure how I ended up making this cause I didn’t plan it but I really dig it a lot. It very much has a textile feel to it like it’s woven instead of painted. I almost added more details to it but decided this one is best left alone and not over worked.

My 5th Element 11 this year and it was special.

It’s very hard to distill down into a few words what makes this experience so magical

Every year I go, I disconnect from the world, drop my ego at the door and leave a little bit of it behind permanently.

There are the obvious things about it that make it fun. Dancing in the desert with friends and strangers. Dressing up in silly outfits. Connecting deeper with chosen family.

But to me it’s all the little moments that make it so special and keep me coming back. Moments of self reflection and beauty. Learning more about who I am and what I want in life.

Even the hard parts make it worthwhile. The dust and the wind and the unpredictability of the entire thing. No year is the same as the last and every year is tough. But it’s really something I am very happy I get to experience with people I love and strangers alike. (P.S. - I didn’t take a single picture of my own so these are all stolen from friends. Haha)

Got invited to participate in a skateboard themed art show @harrington_art_studio and this is what I came up with. Super stoked on how it came together. Didn’t have a ton of time so I’m really pleased I was able to pull this off in time.

So much fun making this painting. Really wanted to keep the palette on this one limited to mainly cool colors with some warm highlights. It definitely gives this one a very cool vibe that I’m very happy with.

I had the most fun making this painting. Sometimes I surprise myself with the things I make. Not sure where this really came from but it’s definitely my favorite thing I’ve made all year.

When I drew out the design, I had something else entirely planned for the painting but as I started to work further it just kind of took control and made itself into something else and I’m so happy about it.

I can’t explain it but when a painting takes the lead and I follow, I always know it’s gonna turn out great.

Very very happy with this one.

I’ve spent my entire 30s (I’m 37) being hard on myself. Wishing I was someone more than what I am. Wishing I was smarter, deeper, more engaging. I have wasted a lot of time and energy trying to do more and be more.

I have been realizing lately that I just need to take a step back and appreciate myself for who I am.

Comparing myself to other people feels like a slow death that is self imposed.

I want to grow and I want to always strive to be a better version of myself, but that desire to be “better” has really stolen a lot of precious time.

I am very hard on myself and feel like I’m my own worst enemy most of the time, but I’m working on being kinder to myself and allowing space for myself to just be who I am without overthinking it (no matter how hard that seems to be) taken in Salt Lake City, Utah by @eric.fairclough

Made this little painting over the last couple of days and it just kinda poured out of me. Really stoked with the limited color pallete I chose for this one. Love the spiral and how it kinda messes with the eyes a little bit.
