Now that I have a bit of time to shake off the rust, I’m revisiting an old creative practice- recreating or redrawing known pieces in my style. The goal isn’t to make an exact copy, but to examine the thought & process of building the piece itself. This is how I started drawing, actually. Taking pages or images from comics & drawing them. It worked then, it should work now…. Right?

The original, which I included, is by the MASTER, Sanjulián. I chose this piece for it’s straightforward composition & iconic Conan pose. I also thought the floating, icy werewolf looked familiar before realizing he used a promo photo from the 2010 Joe Johnston, The Wolfman film. Which I’m a huge fan of… it’s so damn underrated. Looking at this now, I don’t think I’ve ever drawn a woman this close to a #FrazettaGirl than I did here. Certainly not mad about that detail. 🐺⚔️

My friend, & fellow lover of sword & sorcery, @heavycrom was published in the September issue of Schlock magazine. When I sat down to read it, I was immediately whisked away to land of Nebel Voll & the village of Fellin. What he did in seven & a half pages is something most writers fail to do in volumes…. There wasn’t a wasted word or moment. As an artist, it’s the kind of story that made me want to pick up my pencil & put it to paper with haste. I felt inspired. His story was that damn good & that damn entertaining. Crom, brother, I enjoyed the hell out of it & thank you again for sending me a copy.
He also collabed with @mentat0209 on these sick Volkwin (the wrecker of drinking halls & hero of the story) bookmarks. Mentat wasn’t an artist I was familiar with, but as soon as I saw their work I had to follow them. Goddamn. The talent between these two. ⚔️
To all you other dogs, go buy one. These are the things we should be throwing our money at! Supporting writers & artist bringing good, well told stories to life. It ain’t expensive & it’s completely worth it. 🐺

My iron-like grip finally put a hairline crack in my trusty @staedtler 925 05. I’ve had this pal for many, *many* years- to the tune of almost 20. We’ve been through quite a bit together… So many sketches, mostly bad & awful, but a few victories. So much frustration, but It never judged, never waived. A steadfast & unimpeachable comrade.
It has outlasted jobs, friendships & relationships. It has seen the east coast, Gulf of Mexico, The Bahamas, a couple of the Great Lakes & everything in-between.
I can purchase another, but this model, this companion cannot be replaced. I’m going to repair the crack, as I’m not ready to give it up, but I think after 20 years of service it’s earned a bit of a break every now & then. I’m not sure what I’m cackling about. The photographer probably cracked a joke about Mom’s slightly over-manicured, super thin eyebrows. Whatever it was, my brother clearly didn’t get it.

Since I didn’t do anything new for #StarWars day this year I decided to post this #BobaFett piece I penciled a couple years ago. If you think it looks unfinished go fuck yourself! I went hard on the details & am too chickenshit to ink it. I mean… I really just like the effects I got with the pencils & *like* this unfinished, half ass done look. I’m not lazy at all.. I swear. #MaytheFourthBeWithYou
Also, you read that right! I predicted Boba Fett would escaped the Sarlacc Pit before the show. I might have also read the comics from the now non-cannon, extended universe in which it was already known Boba escaped & earned his “Most Feared Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy” reputation. #NerdyShit by @eric.lanning

#600 The #noselfie #selfie no one asked for! It’s difficult to accurately & properly #illustrate the grays that are creeping around the edges of my beard which slowly lurch forward towards the corners of my mouth. Just like the #hairline that continues to mosey back, another subtle reminder of a slow, creeping death. Aging another year has put a mighty hurting me. Not physically, mind you. I continue the journey to be able to wrench a man’s head from his shoulders with my bare hands. (As it stands, I’m *so* close to that goal.) It’s the mental struggle that persists. By my assumption, I’m about halfway through this whole thing. At times, this very finite amount of time is like a razor sharp blade against my throat. Not that I’m being dramatic at all…. #39
I don’t know. I’m ready to live on a farm with a herd of cats & a pack of wolves so I can wear bolo ties with only my leather jacket & boots without all the weird looks.
Post Script… That should definitely be a good ol’hissing house #cat instead of an angry, snarling #wolf looming over my shoulder. However, I have to maintain this fake fucking shadowy, poser persona I continue to feed through the bullshit I share. Not only that, but cats are goddamn hard to draw man. 🐺⚔️

I, too, grunt but it’s seldom with satisfaction. Much to the dismay of those few around me, I use it as a form of communication. What is the use for words when everyone else is just waiting for their turn to speak without listening? JayKay I don’t take anything that seriously. Truth be told, if there’s a couple things I like it’s grunting & knives. ⚔️
