Recently My best friends surprised me with a Special dinner to celebrate 1 year of being Sober!! It’s taken me a while to even truly accept that this is the reality I live now. Everyday, my life is still met with challenges, obstacles, Heartbreak, and overwhelm. But how I choose to Sit with those things looks a lot differently these days! One thing I’ve never been very open about is that I Struggled with more than just alcohol, and that I’ve tried PLENTY of Drugs under the sun. (Yup little miss Disney Channel) I say this because I want you all to know I’m Like you, HUMAN! And I know what it’s like when life is just TOO much to feel!! The easiest way to Survive is to numb. And like many of us do, I chose to make it through another day by drowning out all of those feelings so they couldn’t hurt me. Ironically, Sobriety doesn’t look TOO different in the way that we’re all just trying to make it through THAT day, one at a time. For me, surrounding myself with positive and supportive people, talking to God, and Running have been the way I was able to navigate sobriety but whatever it looks like for YOU, you can do it!! Just felt like being a little vulnerable today, and if you are curious about sobriety PLEASE feel free to reach out. Big shoutout to my girls for having my back through this entire journey.
