All is not what it seems …

Client Consultation

During my training workshops Cultural Competency is the number 1 starting point. You will not start any practical sessions until this portion of the session is done.

I am intentional with every step and it all unfolds and makes sense as the day goes on. You need to begin to understand the client and the nuances that are intrinsically linked to their traditions, culture and identity.

I’m not playing Textured Hair Education, I’m setting standards and expectations and there’s no short cuts.
I stand unapologetically professionally and move with intention and integrity.

What would you do?….

• Multiple curl patterns.

Hand over the baton…

Today was a great day as we welcomed our new Apprentice Hairstylist Kaya.

There’s so many reasons why we can’t do this but there’s many more reaaons why we should.
To have a young person come in with an interest in becoming a Hairstylist makes me feels so excited!

Excitement is often what attracts young people to hairdressing. Then the passion develops when they begin to understand what hairdressing truly means to them.

As experienced hairdressers, we have a responsibility to nurture the next generation, creating opportunities for them to learn, grow and discover their potential.

A young person might enter our salon simply because they enjoy doing hair, but with the right guidance, encouragement and mentorship, they may discover a career that gives them identity, purpose and ambition.

Short tales…

Cutting hair short is one of those big decision changes clients can tussle with the idea of doing.

Will it suit me?
How often will I need to get it cut?
Is it harder to manage?
Will I still look feminine?
What if I hate it and it takes ages to grow back?

Training tools….

When we facilitate or take part in Train the Trainer, Look and Learn and Hands on sessions with @innersenseorganicbeauty @innersensepro, using the variety of curly @pivot_point_uk mannequins is so useful when training with multiple people in class.

The curly hair is ideal for practicing thermal, wet styling and natural hair techniques, including twists, braids, sets and hair additions aswell as services like colouring and relaxing.

The best thing that I absolutely love is the “Cap Series” reusable headform, a wide variety of caps students can easily pop different hair textures, colors and lengths on and off, mixing and matching to elevate the creative journey.
