washed in the water, made new in Him💧✝️

I grew up in church but didn’t truly understand the gospel, and over time I drifted, searching for identity in the wrong places. It wasn’t until college that I began to truly know Christ, even while still struggling to fully surrender.

For a long time, I felt like I had to be “good enough” before I could fully come to God. I put so much pressure on myself to have everything together, and when I kept falling into the same struggles, I felt defeated and held back. But through it all, He never gave up on me, and continued to work in my life little by little, even when I couldn’t see it.

The idea of baptism was something I struggled with for a long time. I felt that I wasn’t at a good enough point in my walk with the Lord to be baptized and put so much pressure on it. I later realized that my walk isn’t always going to be perfect and that that’s okay, and that I spent so much time trying to clean myself up before going to the Lord that I was pushing myself further away from Him in doing so. My journey in coming to know Christ was such a challenge for me as I went back and forth battling the same sins, which made me feel defeated so many times.

Today I got baptized to show the work the Lord has done in my heart and life, and to publicly declare my surrender to Him and my decision to follow Him. by @ericamlopez_
