I said a lot of things during the #scbwiny26 panel on the Outlook of Children’s Publishing, but this is definitely the most important. Thanks for capturing it @acaseoflala and thanks for the question and for having me @temikatheartist by @ericarsilverman

What’s on our minds right now? This year’s disco lunches, baby! They gave us disco fever ✨ And, if you look deep into the disco ball, you’ll find us planning an epic event that will bring every 2026 lunch mate PLUS the entire 2025 crew together for the ultimate reunion. That’s a dream group of srsly groovy kidlit folk 👀🪩

I’m heading off to San Diego Comic Con today to celebrate this star studded raccoon at the Eisner awards. This first photo is when our Random House team shared the good news that NIGHT CHEF received ✨TWO✨ Eisner nominations for best children’s graphic novel and best painter / multimedia artist! This was before we knew of the Harvey nomination for best kids graphic novel as well! Flip through for some of the fun we’ve had with Night Chef so far including me dressed as Night Chef with my own baby penguin (who is not featured in the book), NY Comic Con and an amazing collab with Binondo in nyc.

Apparently, I only work on blue and orange books now. But golly gee, aren’t they so lovely? These are sampling of what’s coming out of my office in the coming months. My eyes, ears and heart are happy. by @ericarsilverman

It starts at the top, with our Ro Stimo, orchestrating a literary home where we can *all* thrive. ALA is always the best way to see so much success in action! Huge congratulations to all ✨ #alaac26 by @ericarsilverman

Eight years ago, I began creating this book.

It started in a place where family tales and childhood memories remained stuck on the walls of my heart, as though they were the heat of my ancestor lands.

In that world, cousins were siblings, aunts became mothers, and the houses were never empty because someone was always arriving, or staying, or being remembered. Children grew up between kitchens of food that was a love language, between music that spilled into the streets, between corners where even the dogs knew how to dance.
I carried that place with me for years, searching for the right way to tell it.

I had the most unconditional support along the way.
I want to thank my brilliant friend and agent @ericarsilverman at @stimolaliterarystudio , who kept encouraging me, never doubted and was a part of this from the beginning.
I want to thank @taylornorm at @holidayhousepeachtree for her generosity, kindness and luminous eye that allowed this story to finally flourish.
I want to thank my family, from my little nest of husband, son and dog, to my huge carnival of relatives who gave me the sense of humor, magic and feelings this story deserves.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you all with all my heart!

PUEBLITO IS FINALLY GETTING PUBLISHED! Hooray!

I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED.

Here’s to all the dead and decaying trees I’ve met along the way. This one’s for you.

Also, thank you to all the human bookmakers that are helping to turn my dummy about dead trees into a book (made of dead trees)—especially @ericarsilverman and @nancyconescu
