expressing my inner anguish through the majesty of song

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ve been making up songs and singing them to trees, insects, stuffed animals, alive animals, patient adults, and exasperated children since about 1974. Can’t stop, won’t stop, more, more, more!

Flow on, river! flow with the flood-tide, and ebb with the ebb-tide!
Frolic on, crested and scallop-edg’d waves!
Gorgeous clouds of the sun-set! drench with your splendor me, or the
men and women generations after me;
Cross from shore to shore, countless crowds of passengers!
Stand up, tall masts of Mannahatta!—stand up, beautiful hills of
Brooklyn! by @ericasmithmusic

Oh @fbomb_nyc 💣, what a time we had last night! What a lineup! My duck suit was at the cleaners so I had to play it pretty straight. He shall be Levon 🎈♥️

Everyone should come down to @bscenenyc and check out the good vibes and flawless tequila plum cocktail 😎

New season, new reason—for lists and reassurances, dreams and dooms. As I browsed for notebooks this is the only one that felt right, because I could not suffer another pink or sage green cover (cute, but enough already); nor could I deal with a journal that says JOURNAL on it, as if we need our chair to say CHAIR. “Notes” I can handle—it tells me what’s inside, not what it is—with a touch of possibility, like my first journal at age 8, with Ziggy on the cover, whose thought bubble invited “afterthoughts to think about.” by @ericasmithmusic

Captain’s Log Summerdate 467: eve of the first day of school in NYC for all the good children: the bored and perpetually hungry, the chirpy sprites of 2k, towering boom-voiced late-stage middleschoolers, and beyond; we celebrate you, the TikTok chefs and Legomasters, whole-cantaloupe devourers, hopscotchers and double-dutchers, Minecraft queens who built your own castle brick by brick: we made it to the end, finally; enjoy your new, excessively overdue adventure; long may you learn and learn and learn
