It’s been just over a year since our last round at The Grand in Gold Coast, Australia. It’s a crime that I haven’t put this up sooner, as it was one of my favorite golf experiences anywhere. The firm and fast playing conditions, wildlife, and scenery made it special. More importantly, the people who we met there made it unforgettable. The kindness and generosity from the great Stefan Ackerie was incredible. Thanks again for your friendship and generosity Stefan! by @ericbeeze

Boston Golf Club appreciation post. This place will either toughen you up or break you. It was the latter for me on this particular day. Grateful for the opportunity to experience it. taken in Boston Golf Club by @ericbeeze

Named after the Bajan green fellas that live in Barbados, the Green Monkey course is an epic “private” resort course. You must be a guest at the resort to score a tee time (only 10 per day) or buy merchandise with the course logo. A Fazio design on 22 acres that plays through a limestone quarry was the world’s most expensive course ever built at the time. Somewhat of a ghost—often spoken of, but rarely seen; the course hosted the 2006 WGC World Cup tournament, won by Germany. It’s gettable if you catch it early with no wind, especially with 5 par 5’s which are all reachable. But the typical sea breeze is strong & creates challenges as a lot of holes are exposed with elevated tee shots, giving the wind a chance to have its way with your pellet. Wall to wall Bermuda grass keeps you on your toes to read the grain, which is extremely strong. You can catch super flyers in the rough or it can nestle down a touch to make it impossible to keep your speed up through the turf. Pitch shots from above the hole & down grain are super slippery. So much fun. Thank you, Mo, for the opportunity to experience this amazing place. taken in Sandy Lane - Green Monkey Golf Course by @ericbeeze

The Golf Club of Geneva opened in 1973 as an RTJ, Sr design and was completely renovated by RTJ, Jr in 2016. Just 10 minutes from downtown Geneva, there are great views of the city, Jet d’eau, Lake Geneva, the Alps, & Mont Blanc. You’ve got to move the ball both ways off the tee & hit it dead straight through some chutes. Lots of fun. Greens have sub air system, so they are bouncy & keep things interesting. Oaks and cedars that are several hundred years old border the fairways with old castle type buildings are around the first couple holes. The 25’ tall yellow boots near the 17th green had me scratching my head, but I didn’t ask any questions. Beautifully maintained and a treat to experience this great track. taken in Golf Club de Genève by @ericbeeze

This original Gil Hanse design opened in 2005, built on 300 acres including remnants an old rock quarry & dense forrest. Lots of width, but it’s well hidden from tee box perspective. The sand and gravel base allows you to play the ground game and use openings in front of the greens, unless you choose conservative lines from the tee, resulting in trickier approaches with some forced carries. Lots of up and down with rolling fairways makes the walk one of the most difficult I’ve experienced. Huge greens (with exception to #16) and extreme contours make them a lot of fun. You could play here for years and not repeat the same shots or putts. Ranked #90 on Golf Digest Top 100 & #6 in Massachusetts. Some say it is Hanse’s best design. taken in Boston Golf Club by @ericbeeze

Walker Course at Clemson was a blast! Nothing like playing on zoysia grass. Greens were firm with no imperfections. Opened in 1995 and designed by DJ DeVictor and home to the Clemson Golf Team. Measuring 6911 yards from Tiger tees at 72.8 rating, not long by today’s standards, but provides plenty of challenge with the firm setup. Par 3’s are exceptional, including the PAW green, shown in the last photo. taken in Walker Course At Clemson University by @ericbeeze

Ranked #15 in the US by Golf Digest & #5 in NY, Friar’s Head checks all the boxes. This Coore-Crenshaw design opened in 2003 on 350 acres situated 200 feet above the Long Island Sound on two very different terrains: a flat former potato field & tree covered dunes with 50-75 foot elevation changes. Both nines start in the dunes, spill into the farmland, then come back to the dunes. Amazing collection of par 5’s that aren’t give away birdies & great variety on par 3’s places Friar’s at the top of my list. Firm, fast, uphill, downhill, deep bunkers, managing wind off the sound, ocean views, epic caddies…you get it all. Not to mention maybe the best walking bridge in golf, connecting 15 green to 16 tee. taken in Friars Head Golf Club by @ericbeeze

Tipping out at just under 7000yds, Adios opened in 1983 as an Arnold Palmer design and was one of the 16 founding members. Still one of the most exclusive clubs in FL, the minty conditions and shotmaking options keep you interested at all times. Most holes played either straight in or straight down wind, with plenty of doglegs to cut if you’re feeling spicy. The greens & surrounds were firm and provided bounces & roll out, even while coming in with short irons. Love this! Swept the dew and played in about two. 😎⛳️ taken in Adios Golf Club by @ericbeeze
