Dress to Impress: Spring Edition was AMAZING!!! 👗👔💕 Thank you to @projtransitions for allowing us to bring this event for a second time in your space. @pavementaustin for always supporting community and donating clothing racks. @reunion_barbershop , @cutenailstudio.atx , and @queeraudacityatx for hosting donation boxes throughout all of May! And most importantly, @topdrawerthriftaustin , for their countless donations, without we couldn’t have sourced over 440 pieces of summer clothing!! With our combined efforts we were able to give 10 hair styling appointments, take 8 pieces for gender affirming tailoring, and provide medical services for 4 people! Special thanks to @samaia_marie , @b_zstylez and @swank.ki for providing gender affirming haircuts and tailoring. #ATX #communitylove taken in Austin, Texas by @ericgarika

Meet Eric @ericgarika our first workshop presenter highlight! ✨

Eric Alejandro Garcia (Él/him) is from Donna, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley and currently resides in Austin, Texas working at ASHwell ATX @ashwellatx helping manage a SAMSHA grant and acting as their health researcher and educator.

In his workshop, you’ll learn about the different ways that substance use, interpersonal violence, and harm reduction are interconnected and influence us.

“I hope attendees leave with the tools to destigmatize substance use and interpersonal violence in their own lives, culturally, and societally. The main takeaway I have for attendees is harm reduction is for everyone, and your own community can be a form of harm reduction!”

In his personal time, you can find Eric exploring fashion, reading indie horror authors and rollerskating.

Breaking News! Dress to Impress was a success!

In partnership with Eric Garcia (@ericgarika), @projtransitions, @pavementaustin and @hearteningaustin; over 300 pieces of clothing and 10 haircuts were given to Project Transition residents in one day!
