You’ve become pretty famous for your birthday posts. For those of us lucky enough to be in your super small circle (and old enough to have social media to read it), we look forward to our special day all year. Unfortunately, you are in rarified air with that talent, and nothing I write comes remotely close to your words. It would take the work of a Hemingway or Faulkner to help write what you truly deserve and how special you are (I will not resort to ChatGPT). With qualifications in place, I’ll now attempt.

40! How did that happen? I still remember working for your dad while your jerk self only made my job harder. I would’ve never thought in a billion years that we would end up married with 50 kids, all the animals and being business partners almost 30 years later. You keep our chaotic lives running remarkably smoothly, while still looking like a million dollars. You make this life immeasurably more fun and full of wine. You never turn down an adventure (even though you should probably learn to say no to some my impulses). But that is what makes you special. You have a curiosity to learn and experience, even if it results in a broken leg. And then you made that look like a minor nuisance in your year; in fact, somehow you ended up just getting stronger. I’m not sure if I more impressed or scared!

I could literally go on for pages and still not scratch the surface of how special you are to all of us. Here’s to another 60 trips around the sun, even if that means I only have 55 more (unfortunate consequence of being much more senior). Happy birthday! We love you and you do truly make 40 look fabulous….I mean, who else can jump into the splits on top of the Teotihuacan Pyramid of the Moon in such a showing of supermom badassery?!?! 🍭🦎 taken in Teotihuacan Pyramids Mexico City by @erich.n.n
