Before they became legs, they were branches. The willow poles supporting my ceramic sculptures grow here on the farm. Fast-growing and used in craftsmanship for centuries, willow connects my sculpture making to both a tradition and the place where I live. An entire process around growing and building.. For the exhibition A Place Where Questions Outnumber Answers, Luxembourgish artist Eric Mangen presents a new body of work combining abstract painting, ceramics and plant elements. Through these different media, Mangen creates an environment shaped by his sensitivity to landscape, materiality and the living world. Forms encounter and respond to one another according to their own logic, at times creating ambiguities that—as the exhibition’s title suggests—do not seek to provide answers, but instead open a space for questioning and interpretation. Developed over more than a year and a half of research, a new body of ceramic works extends the principles that characterise Mangen’s painting practice. Here, the artist explores the same relationship with gesture, chance and accident, confronting certain conventions of ceramics with a more intuitive working method. Irregularities, distortions and unforeseen outcomes thus become integral parts of the creative process. See you the 8.10 @bil_lux @nosbaum.reding Photos by magic Marie @marieromanova_ by @ericmangen

Just a couple of weeks to go to the big day Starting to get excited :) @nosbaum.reding by @ericmangen
Advancing in ceramics is an absolute joy — especially the glazing part (which most potters seem to hate). For me, it feels like learning how to paint all over again, just in a completely different medium. And suddenly, every little step feels like an achievement. It reminds me so much of my early days of painting, when every discovery, every new technique, every piece felt like a milestone. I love having that feeling again. In ceramics, every piece is a milestone all of a sudden. Photos by the amazing @marieromanova_ See you at @bil_lux October 8 with @nosbaum.reding by @ericmangen
