Twelve years married to the steadiest, strongest, most quietly extraordinary person I’ve ever known.

She’s the one who taught me what love is. The kind of love that stays. She holds space in a way nobody else has or could. She sees strength in me that I struggle to find on my own.

If you’ve followed our family for any length of time, you know our years haven’t been easy ones. We’ve had seasons that tested everything we had. Nights we were tired, and the words came out wrong, or didn’t come out at all. Days so long our patience ran short. Occasions it felt like our world was falling apart. Scary moments we never imagined… We didn’t survive those seasons despite each other; we survived them because the only way through was together.

Her hand in the dark. Her voice in the noise. Us over pride. Repair over retreat. Every. Single. Time.

Because Dominique isn’t my “what if.” She never has been. She’s my “even if.” And it’s been that way since she made the first move in third grade with a “Do you like me? Check yes or no” note. Thirty years later, I’m still checking yes. by @ericwodom

What a wild week (or seven) it’s been. Leading this update off with a heap of gratitude; thank you @rlyupthere , @thejoshloh , and @danmallteaches for your generosity and the time, energy, and effort you’ve put in to creating and amplifying a GoFundMe campaign for @htx.ke4ton. I feel like a broken record saying this, but I genuinely don’t know how to say it enough… on behalf of our whole family, thank you!

ICYMI: Dan offered a free business coaching call to anyone who donates $200 or more to Keaton’s fund. Unprompted, no reason to, just because that’s who he is. If you’ve been on the fence about giving, that’s a pretty extraordinary reason not to be.

As for Keaton, he’s settling into life at home again. Overall, he’s doing well. There’s a long road of healing and recovery ahead, with frequent check-ins, follow-ups, and tests sprinkled throughout. Even with that, and all of his restrictions, he’s beginning to carefully get out and spend time with friends; it’s great to see!

As much as we want this to all be behind us, recovery didn’t stop when he left the hospital, it just got quieter. A few of you have asked what the fund actually goes toward, so here’s the real answer: medical costs insurance doesn’t cover, travel for his ongoing appointments, moments of joy/distraction for the family, time away from work to get him through this, and just… a cushion for whatever we can’t see coming yet. If you’re interested in contributing, the link is in my bio for a few days.

We’re further into this than we ever expected to be, in every way imaginable, and every bit of that is because of you all. Genuinely, thank you for the prayers, messages, shares, and contributions to Keaton’s fund… thank you for sticking with us through this chapter. by @ericwodom

That’s a long time to be anywhere, let alone a Hospital. Thankfully, that chapter of the story is behind us; as of Tuesday evening, Keaton is finally home. 🙏

We’re not gonna pretend these last few weeks were anything but brutal, on Keaton most of all, but on our whole family as well. There were hard days, long nights, and many moments when all we could do was have faith, hold on to hope, and pray. But Keaton has been a fighter through every moment of it. He’s healthy, he’s strong, and he’s managing his recovery like a champ so far. We’re proud parents, for sure.

Thank you! Thank you for the messages, the prayers, the gifts, the donations, the meals… every single one helped make this ordeal a lil’ easier to endure. Words can’t express how great it’s felt to have our community rally around us.

Real talk, though, the unfortunate reality is that coming home doesn’t mean the hard part is over. Keaton’s got a long road ahead. He’s under intense restrictions for the next several weeks — no sweating, no direct sunlight, extremely limited mobility — and, honestly, his full recovery is measured in months and years, not weeks. Our kid lost his summer, maybe a bit more, and that’s a tough pill for us all to swallow, especially him. We’re hopeful, though; one day, this will just be a minor side quest in his story.

A few of you have continued to reach out and ask how you can help, and that continues to mean the world to him and us…

🍽️ Meals are a huge blessing right now. Anything that takes one thing off our plate while we adjust to being home and focus on Keaton’s healing is a tremendous help.

🧱 The Lego fund is still going strong. With his mobility limited for a while, those builds are keeping his hands and mind busy (and his spirits high).

Thank you for loving our family the way you have. We’re not at the finish line yet, but we’re home, we’re together, and we’re holding onto hope. God’s been good through all of it. More family and life updates to come. 🫶 taken in Texas Children's Hospital by @ericwodom

Fifteen days into this Texas Children’s chapter, and we wanted to give y’all an update.

Since Keaton was admitted on June 5th, he’s been through several procedures and a few aggressive rounds of treatment for an infection. Unfortunately, that’s left us with no clear discharge date, and we’ve made peace with not rushing one. He’s under some of the best surgical and infection care he can get, and we trust them completely.

Mentally, he’s had harder days this stretch than he’s had all along. 2+ weeks in a hospital room would wear anyone down, let alone a 15-year-old who just wanted a normal summer. We’re staying close, doing the best we can to fill the time with engagement and lil’ moments of joy, and learning to be patient and trust a bit more each day.

If you’ve been praying, please keep it up. If you’ve been sending DoorDash gift cards, they continue to be a lifeline for us at the hospital. And several of you have asked about gifts for Keaton directly; he’s saving up for LEGO sets he’s had his eye on, so if you’re feeling generous, his LEGO fund is open on CashApp, Venmo, Apple Cash, or PayPal @ericwodom.

Thanks for sticking with us through this, and thank you for your continued prayers, messages, love, and support. We’ll keep you posted. 🙏 taken in Texas Children's Hospital by @ericwodom

We’re not the ones to normally share things like this much anymore, because we’ve come to value privacy a bit more in recent years. But almost losing a kid wasn’t on our list of things to go through in life; that moment was easily one of, if not the scariest moments of our lives.

On his first day of summer break, Keaton had an accident that changed the pace of things for our house pretty significantly. What started as a usual day with friends became a scary afternoon and terrifying night in the ER, and has turned into multiple procedures, specialist visits, and, as of this weekend, an extended stay at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston following surgery.

Keaton’s scalp was damaged pretty severely in the initial accident, and it ended up being more extensive than anyone anticipated. The road ahead still has a couple of weeks on it, but this kid has handled every single thing thrown at him with more grit and grace than most adults could manage. We are so proud of him.

We’ve kept things close to the vest while we navigated everything, but we wanted to share where things stand and say thank you for the texts, the check-ins, the prayers, and the meals. It has meant more than we can put into words.

Keaton is resting, he’s in good hands, and he is going to be okay. We’ll take all the prayers you’ve got, and if you’re feeling generous, any DoorDash gift cards you want to send his or our way. Love y’all, and we’ll share some celebratory and positive news soon!!! by @ericwodom

I was crushing on you but too nervous to say anything, so you chose me with a simple “check yes or no” letter in ‘95. We found each other fourteen years later — me figuring out life with a one-year-old and you chasing your dream of becoming a teacher — and you chose me again. We started a family, began building a life together, married, created a home for our family, and you continued to choose me. I made mistake after mistake, as a friend, as a father, as a husband, and you still chose me. Since day one, you’ve seen something in me I didn’t quite see in myself. You’ve been kind, patient, and a daily inspiration. You’re a friend to me when I don’t know how to be one to myself, and an incredible mother to our children. I don't know life without you, and I pray I never do.

To my best friend, coffee date, movie buddy, ADHD counterpart, safe space, number one fan, pride, joy, brighter side, and wife, thank you for continuously choosing me and the life we’ve built. I love doing life with you and look forward to everything God has in store for us.

You’re mine. I’m yours. Always & Forever.

Had the pleasure of designing the artwork for @zealhouse.worship's latest single, "Grave."

Still surreal to see the artwork on Spotify, YouTube, etc., and it's great seeing how the elements make their way into the video and other promo pieces. Truly a collaborative effort and I'm honored to work with the @zealhouse.church team to bring it all to life. by @ericwodom

Had the privilege of working with @zealhouse.worship on the artwork for their latest single, I Know A Name.

This was an incredibly fun project with almost two dozen concepts before we narrowed in on the boot sitting on a snake's neck as the one to use for this release (holding on to some of those other concepts for future releases).

S/O to @brea_banks for pitching the ideas and helping narrow in on the best concept for this single. Thanks to @janplascencia for the assist in the initial compositing of the snake/boot. And a special thank you to @lukecunningham and the @zealhouse.church_ team for bringing me in; here's hoping this is the first of many projects together.

Listen to @zealhouse.worship's "I Know A Name" on your favorite streaming service, and keep an eye out for more from them (and me) very soon! taken in Zealhouse by @ericwodom

👋 Goodbye Summer

By far, this was one of the most difficult summers of my adult life — it’s documented on X/Twitter if you’re curious — but it was also full of some of my fav moments of the past few years.

It’s so easy to fall into the rhythm of just trying to survive the onslaught of what life throws at us. Sometimes, the season calls for a short stint of survival mode — it’s where I’ve been since May — but I refuse to live there. The season has passed and it’s on to new things.

Grateful for this crew who keeps me grounded, grateful, and humble, and constantly reminds me that one of the best gifts we can give each other is our presence.

Goodbye summer, hello to what’s next. by @ericwodom
