Celebrated my birthday this month.

This month has honestly been a rough one. It started out okay, and I got to celebrate my birthday with my parents, which I’m really grateful for. But shortly after, my dad was admitted to the hospital and he’s having surgery on Monday. I’ve been kind of a mess with everything going on.

Still really thankful for the little happy moments and for getting to spend time with the people I love. Just hoping everything goes well on Monday and that things get a little easier from here. Birthday illustration taken in Shinjuku Tokyo Japan by @erihime

I’m so excited to share that my newest illustration, “Midnight Party,” is now on display as part of the group exhibition 「呪物メイト～チャーミーとさゆりと～」 in Osaka!

A little fun fact about me, I’ve always loved anything horror or paranormal. My friends and I even have horror movie nights where we stream and watch scary movies together!

So when I was invited to create a piece for an exhibition inspired by a girls’ gathering of cursed objects, I knew I had to say yes. It was such a fun concept to illustrate and the perfect chance to combine something I genuinely love with my own colorful style.

The exhibition features tribute artworks inspired by Charmy & Sayuri, alongside more than 20 real cursed objects from collector Toshiyuki Tanaka’s collection. It’s such a unique mix of cute, spooky, and a little bit strange and I absolutely loved being a part of it.

Designed my first ever matcha packaging at an Adobe workshop ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ🍵✨

We only had 30 minutes, so I panicked a little and ended up reusing one of my old moon illustration, Seeing it become a real package was honestly such a fun experience ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Also got to enjoy matcha lattes, beautiful handmade wagashi, and meet so many lovely creatives. Left feeling very inspired 💓

「赤い靴の女の子」

When I was little, I lived in Yokohama, and my dad bought me a book called Akai Kutsu. It was the first book I ever had, and I remember being so in love with the illustrations.

Years later, I wanted to create my own interpretation of this story that stayed with me for so long.

I don’t remember every detail of the story anymore, but I remember the feeling. A little girl, red shoes, and a quiet, melancholic story that felt both beautiful and sad.

The story is said to be inspired by a real girl named Kimi, a Japanese girl from the early 1900s whose story became connected to the famous “Red Shoes” tale. It carries a feeling of longing and a life that could have been different.

The last slide is the actual book my dad gave me when I was a child 🤍

小さい頃、横浜に住んでいた時に父が買ってくれた『赤い靴』という絵本。
それが私が初めて手にした本で、子どもの頃から挿絵が大好きでした。

何年経っても心に残っていて、いつか自分なりの解釈で描いてみたいと思っていた作品です。

物語の細かい内容はもう全部覚えていないけれど、赤い靴を履いた女の子の姿と、少し寂しくて美しい雰囲気だけはずっと覚えています。

『赤い靴』は、実在した少女、きみちゃんの話がもとになったと言われています。
叶わなかった未来への憧れや切なさを感じさせるこの物語は、今でも多くの人の心に残っています。

最後の写真は、子どもの頃に父が買ってくれた実際の絵本です🤍
