This Pride season @scootiemcgoots joined me as I finally made the pilgrimage to @berkeleycastle, where I stood in the cell where King Edward II spent his final days. It felt deeply meaningful to commemorate a figure whose story was so formative to my queer experience and I can’t believe it’s been almost ten years since we told his story at Theater for the New City with “More Than All the World”. As we celebrate Pride, let us remember those who lived and live in times and places where Pride is harder to conjure. Even as he lost everything and would soon lose his life in 1327, Edward II affirmed: “I could not be other than I am.” taken in Berkeley Castle by @erik.ransom

Randomly found a praying mantis on the ceiling in my living room today. With the aid of a Swiffer and a CVS brochure I managed to liberate the little fella to my front porch, where I hope he will express his gratitude by devouring less majestic insects that vex me there. I have named him Rhaegal and I hope to see more of him, but only outdoors. by @erik.ransom
