Athar è un progetto che mi ha preso tanto, tantissimo tempo.

Brain-storming, concept, tante bozze e tanti disegni, infiniti prompt e immagini accantonate.

Ma mi ha appassionata tantissimo.
Non volevo creare qualcosa di strano.
Volevo creare qualcosa che si potesse produrre (e infatti ci sto lavorando) e che potessi indossare.

Lo troverete durante il London Design Festival, nella mostra AMALGAM di @cluster__contemporaryjewellery dal 12 al 20 settembre.

What happens when Midjourney goes off the rails and instead of deleting the weirdness, you keep pushing it?

One glitch becomes a silhouette.
A mistake becomes a material.
A failed generation becomes a visual language.

Sometimes the most interesting ideas are hiding in the things that were never supposed to work.

HALITE.

A few weeks ago, I visited a natural history museum and fell completely in love with minerals.

With their beauty hidden behind rigid structures. With the way they can resemble something entirely different from what they actually are.

I found myself wondering what would happen if that contradiction became a body.

So I let myself be inspired

Athar — أثر — means “trace”, “mark”, or “imprint” in Arabic.

I have always believed that nothing we experience simply disappears. People, places, relationships, memories and losses leave something behind. Sometimes it is visible, sometimes it becomes part of us so quietly that we only recognise it much later.

Living between different places and cultures has made me particularly aware of how deeply landscapes can become part of our identity. ATHAR grew from this feeling: the idea that a place can leave a trace on us, just as we leave traces behind.

I imagined the jewellery as fragments of that process — not objects simply placed in a landscape, but forms that seem to emerge from it. Stone, earth, water and fire become part of the pieces, blurring the boundary between something created by human hands and something shaped by nature.

For me, ATHAR is about what remains.

For AMALGAM, Erika Buzzo of BE AI Studio brings AI-generated jewellery into dialogue with identity, memory, and the layered nature of who we become.

Working from Morocco, @erikabuzzo draws on the colours and visual language around her, using AI not as an end point, but as another material to shape, reduce and reinterpret.

Her work asks us to look beyond the image — at what gets preserved, what gets erased, and what remains.
