Snuck away for two days for a quick Mum-cation in Mollymook.

Packed my surfboard, a new script to learn and a fairly ambitious appetite for quiet, sleep and someone else’s cooking.

Even the 3.5-hour drive felt like part of the holiday — calling friends I’ve been meaning to call, listening to podcasts, and watching lush green hills roll into ocean.

No one to organise but myself. What a concept.

Just a little space to surf, read, eat well, sleep deeply and hear myself think.

Turns out two days can feel surprisingly spacious.

MONKEY MIND?

Some days there’s one. Some days there’s an entire bloody troop.

I’ve learnt that I don’t need an hour, a silent retreat or to magically stop thinking.

Sometimes 10 minutes is enough to change the whole internal weather system.

When the call went out to get the gang together on a school night at the local cinema to see @spaweekendmovie — robes compulsory, cooking dinner absolutely not — they came. 🍿🥂

I reckon around 40 of us. @mum2.3 casually brought 17 PEOPLE. 😂

Hooting, howling and kicking cinema etiquette to the curb when my face appeared on screen.

Honestly, this is how all premieres should be watched: in a bathrobe, surrounded by your mates, eating popcorn for dinner.

Perfect ladies’ (and lads’) night out.
