Life@57 The outline is in place. Next up … taking her to performance levels. Stay tuned…

MAJOR side note - this choreo session series with @by.karmaraines was/is my very first creative session locking in choreo from a free-flowing two-woman cypher. I haven’t felt this much creative freedom since my USC dance days. A considerable difference is I feel SEEN! @by.karmaraines thank you sooooo much for seeing me, matching and sharing, energy and expression with me. It’s a Gemini thang! #ɪʏᴋʏᴋ I can’t wait for the next level.

And ‘Friend’ (@tokyojustme ) thank you for the surprise show ups, your continued support and for bringing your skills and training and bestowing upon me your sage teachings. You take each movement to a whole other level for all of us. I got the foot cramps and bruises to prove it. PLUS you are the ONLY corporate football playing en point ballerina I know! Can anyone else say the same? I’ll wait…

I LOVE PROPS!!!!

Life@57 I had a private choreography session on Friday and there was a moment during our session, when my Dance Director & Movement Coach @by.karmaraines said something that completely changed the energy:

“When you are in it with me, you’re not thinking about it, which is great... Don’t activate the thought too much right now.”

So, I didn’t.

I stopped thinking about the choreography. I stopped thinking about what step should come next. I stopped trying to figure out what she was going to do.

I just danced with her. And something shifted. I vibed off of her movement, and she vibed off of mine. She moved, I answered. I moved, she answered. The counts faded and the music moved me. Just two women, in the music, having a conversation through movement.

A two-woman cypher.

There is something incredibly freeing about reaching a place where you stop thinking about the next step and just allow the music, your body, and the person dancing with you to have the conversation.

For me, this was bigger than learning choreography, It was about release. Trusting my body enough to stop telling it what to do and allowing it to simply respond. And THAT felt amazing.

And of course, once is never enough. We’re back in the studio FRIDAY for
another private session.

It ain’t just dance.
