🩸 Survived Leukemia and decided to sing for the rest of my life.

Happy birthday to me - 5 years old 🖤⚡️⠀
⠀
On August 12th 2021 I was given a new life after my battle with leukemia. I was reborn. New blood. A new immune system. A new life.⠀
⠀
And that life was made possible by an anonymous donor, the Swedish healthcare system, science and the organization that made the whole thing possible @tobiasregistret 🩸
⠀
Five years later my life is better than it has ever been. And it’s not because my career took off. It’s because I know what truly matters.
⠀
I don’t care as much about the small things anymore. I don’t even think I’m afraid of dying anymore. I just want to use my time wisely and live life on my terms… because believe me… life is too short not to.⠀
⠀
We don’t know how much time we have. We never do. If it wasn’t for my donor, it would have been over five years ago. So everything since then feels like a bonus.⠀
⠀
And I think that’s how we should always look at life -⠀
as one BIG FAT BONUS!! We are here against all odds, enjoying this brief moment of existence. We’ve already won. What else do we f*** need?!⠀
⠀
And now that I’m healthier and stronger than ever⠀
there’s something I find fascinating about being human: how quickly we adapt.⠀
⠀
When you’re sick you have one problem: become healthy again. When you’re healthy you suddenly have 1000 problems. Things that - if you really think about it - don’t matter at all. The things we worry about are often so small compared to the privilege of simply being here. And then there’s my donor…⠀
⠀
I still can’t fully comprehend what he did for me. He gave me his stem cells completely anonymously and selflessly. He gave me more time. More life. How do you ever thank someone for giving you your life back?⠀
⠀
The crazy thing is… he’s not anonymous to me anymore. We both agreed to revoke the anonymity and I now know who my blood brother is and we stay in touch. I’ve never met him in person but he will always be a part of me. I consider him family. I won’t share his name out of respect for his privacy but I hope he knows just how much I love him.⠀

Written in the Scars is a song from my latest album BAD BONES and I decided to make a video for every song on the album.⠀
⠀
When I released this one I had a feeling there was something special about it… but I wasn’t prepared for the response.⠀
⠀
The song is now getting picked up by commercial radio here and there and it seems to have taken on a life of its own. All thanks to you guys! ⠀

If there’s one thing this release and your reactions have reminded me of it’s how much power there is in sharing our stories. In opening up and in allowing ourselves to be vulnerable sometimes.⠀

Because the paradox is that there’s enormous strength in being able to be vulnerable. It takes a lot of strength to have the courage to be weak sometimes!! ⠀

MY VERSION OF THE JAPANESE CLASSIC “SUKIYAKI” (上を向いて歩こう / Ue o Muite Arukō) IS OUT NOW! 🇯🇵

Today marks exactly 65 years since Kyu Sakamoto originally released this incredible song in Japan back in 1961.

I recorded my own version as a tribute to this timeless classic and as a dedication to all my Japanese fans ahead of my very first solo shows in Japan!

I hope I’ve done this beautiful song justice 🖤

Yes I’m singing in Japanese!! This one is for my Japanese fans 🇯🇵

I’ve been looking forward to performing in Japan for a long time and this November I’m finally doing my first solo shows in Tokyo and Osaka!

To celebrate I recorded my own version of the Japanese classic “Sukiyaki,” originally performed by Kyu Sakamoto in 1961.

Tomorrow marks 65 years since its original release and it felt like the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to this incredible song. Full version will be released tomorrow Oct 15th at 11 am CEST.

Thank you for all the love and support you’ve given me over the years. I can’t wait to finally meet you!
