After many years in the making, we’re thrilled to announce that SUMO: SPIRIT WEIGHS NOTHING will have its world premiere at the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

Directed by Erik Shirai, the film grants rare inside access to Japan’s hidden world of sumo. Over a turbulent year, wrestlers at every stage of their career fight to endure, revealing that true strength is measured not in flesh, but in spirit.

After six grueling years to obtain access and filming, I’m incredibly proud and honored to finally share Sumo: Spirit Weighs Nothing. The film will have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival @labiennale.
