I’ve always love the culture of masks, the art, and the process of creating something unique that some kid might find in the ground in 500 years. Im sure it would make them pretty happy. I’d like to think so anyway. This is the (slow) process of this Conquistador inspired basswood mask. Nearly one hundred percent true to how they were traditionally made in history. I’ve filmed as much as I could without taking the joy from the process, so you may see a gap or two, it’s not easy. This specific expression is based on what I feel the last look someone may have would be when faced with death. I’m not sure what that may actually look like, but I assume would be filled with a surprise, dread, and a bit of disbelief. #mask #carving #woodcarving #maskmaking #relax by @erikswitzer

The Louisville Classic 2026 -I do it/ Paul and I do it for all of ya’ll in Lousivlle. The amount of work is worth it, but not able to be done without the amazing people at @sprakskateboarding helping night and day readying everything from schedules to phone calls, hundreds of emails, building, painting, photography and welding. HUGE shout out to my close friend @paulzitzer for working through the ins and outs with me and making this an amazing day. HUGE shout out to some of the best people around who make sure ideas and execution stays seamless in these moments. “You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?”Not only my longest puppet project to date (140+ hours), but also one of my favorites. All hand carved before I learned how to be faster, and maybe smarter? As we get our ideas together for 2026, it’s a great time to take a look back at what goes into some of the things we do here at Sprak, and that includes one of our most fun events, The Louisville classic. Whether it was the first time trying some of these tricks, running into each other in the darkness, or mass amount of smoke inhalation from fireworks, the filming of this commercial is a core memory, and such a blast to be a part of.
