Until we meet again, Silas🪽
You were the most beautiful, rotten kitty, and you gave me the best memories. Growing up with you was such a blessing. I’ll miss the way you always greeted me at the door, fussing at me for ever leaving. I’ll miss you laying on everything just to make sure you had all the attention, swatting at the window and chattering at the birds outside, collecting your weird little toys like pipe cleaners, Dum Dum suckers, and straws, and chewing on anything plastic you could find. I’ll miss your sweet purrs more than anything. Twelve years wasn’t enough. I know Grandmother will take care of you in heaven until I get there. I love you, fat boy. The crown was never the dream. The dream was making a difference while wearing it.

I gave this year everything I had, and in return it gave me more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you, West Virginia. Serving you has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I hope I made you proud.

And to all the little girls who still twirl around in princess dresses and dream big dreams, never stop. I was once that little girl too.
