Music, movies, skateboarding and anything else fun. Life's too short.

D.R.I. - Crossover - I'm legally obligated to tell you that this was where the term Cossover came from by the Punk & Thrash Commission of New Jersey. This is one of best albums that #dri put out! Johnny P, and I used to skate Louie's ramp and rock out to this in his cul-de-sac. We'd talk about seeing these guys and moshing in the pit. It was so much fun. Years later, still thrashing around to this album, and preferably not moshing, but I'm still hoping to catch these guys live at some point. #thrashmetal #thrash #metalmusic by @erin41137

NoMeansNo - 0 + 2 = 1 - This is my favourite #NomeansNo album. It is an amazing blend of punk, art prog, and general weirdness that you don't really come across very often on a record. The first track, Now, subtly lures you in with the promise of pop, folk punk, and then twists into the thundering rhythmic pulse of the Fall and eventually peaking at the fourth song Valley of the Blind, only to lull your senses with the final track, Mary. And that is just side one! Side two, is prog punk(?) at its very best. Strange songs, fun experimental fusions that make you question yourself, the world around you, and your neighborhood letter carrier. I lent this cassette to someone years ago and never saw them nor the cassette ever again. Coincidence? This is an incredible record by the best band most people have never heard of. #punkrock #punk #vinylcollection #vinylrecords by @erin41137

Annihilator - Alice In Hell - I remember seeing the Alison Hell video on the Power Hour and really digging it. I thought it was super cool that they were a thrash band, and they were from Canada. I also liked that the song was different and told a story. It was prog before I knew what prog was. LOL! Sadly, this album fell to the wayside when I started focusing on punk/hardcore music, and Alison Hell lost its shine for me. Years later, Curt, a friend of mine, said I was crazy and should listen to it again because the guitar work was phenomenal. Eventually, I found the cd and was blown away by everything Jeff Waters was doing on this album. His arrangements, solos, and everything else are so just so good. Also, Randy Rampage, from D.O.A., is doing vocals on this album, which I didn't remember at all. In short, I fell in love again with the song Alison Hell and the whole rest of the record. This is a fantastic thrash album and one of the best from Canada or anywhere else. #Annihilator #thrashmetal #metalmusic #thrash by @erin41137

Van Halen - S/T - I love this album! Everything is On Fireeeeeee! They mix it up with so many different styles, and Eddie's guitar work is flawless on every track. What a killer debut for these guys! David Lee Roth is on point vocally, with soul, sarcasm, and wit in abundance. I could throw this on and just hit repeat for the rest of the day. Love this album, and it's still one of the best after all these years. #vanhalen #vinylrecords #vinylcollection by @erin41137

Sepultura - Schizophrenia - For the longest time, this was the only Sepultura album that I was missing. For years, I just never came across it, but when I finally saw it, I snapped it up in a heartbeat. This is such a great album! Not only is it the first with the classic lineup, but it is really a blueprint to the #Sepultura sound. Listening to some of these songs, I can hear ideas that are used later on with greater effect in Beneath, Arise, and even Chaos A.D.. I'm sad that I found it so late because the songs are so intense, melodic at times, and a real catalyst to what the band was going to become. Incredible beginning for these thrash legends. #thrashmetal #thrash #metalmusic by @erin41137

Johnny Cash - The Best Of - My dad had a large collection of old country records from the 70s. As I got older, the only one that I really enjoyed was the man in black, Johnny Cash. This is a 5 record set from Reader's Digest, and each album has a theme. The First is the Big Hits, then On the Railroad, Down West, On Sunday and my favourite, In Jail. LOL! The collection has pretty much all of Johnny's songs that you would ever want to heat from the 60s and 70s. This is a special album set for me because my dad and I used to listen and sing along when I was little. Now that he's gone, when I hear it, it reminds me of him. This is probably why my name is spelled Erin, and not Aaron, because that was my dad's sense of humour too. LOL! Anyway, it's a great collection of songs and memories. #johnnycash #vinylcollection #vinylrecords #countrymusic by @erin41137

Violent Femmes - S/T - My friend Perry, Bon Jovi fanatic, glam band king, gave me this cassette because ge wasn't into and thought I might dig it more. Boy, was he right! This is one of my all-time favourite albums. It's weird folk punk music, which even the early 90s, 7 years after its release, was a really strange duck record. What an album, though! Blister in the Sun, Kiss Off, and the unforgettable Add It Up! I think it took me a week to even listen to the second side. LOL! Unfortunately, my tape went missing over the tears, but when I started collecting again, this was another album I picked up right away. Great music, and a lot of great memories come with this album. #violentfemmes #punk #punkrock by @erin41137

The Revolting Cocks - Beers, Steers, + Qveers The Albvm - What do you get when you put Ministry and Luc van Acker together? This crazy, chaotic blast of noise insanity! I had single for the title track for years before I got the actual album and would annoy people with the madness of the remixed tracks. Not that any of the songs are bad, quite the opposite. They're fantastic in a we will play what we want, how we want and don't care if you hate it way. The cover of Oliva Newton John's Let's Get Physical is a testament to that and has never sounded better. Love this album, it's just fun and weird, and it's good to listen when you need to shake out a bad day. #revoltingcocks #vinylrecords #vinylcollection #industrial by @erin41137

The Exploited - Punks Not Dead - This was another album that Johnny P found in the discount bin when he was Florida when we were teens. Which is crazy! Anyway, we'd have this and Troops of Tomorrow blasting while we skated his backyard ramp. From what I remember, the neighbors were big fans. ;) Years later, I grabbed this cd, and it is still a banger from top to bottom. I was surprised that I remembered all the lyrics. LOL! One of the best #punk albums ever, and it still shreds today. #exploited #punkrock #punksnotdead by @erin41137

The Rolling Stones - Aftermath - This album has two of my all-time favourite songs on it. Paint It Black, which made a huge resurgence in the late 80s because it was used in the opening credit for the show Tour of Duty. I like it because it's dark and has a good push/pull going on. Each verse is a build, and the chorus just explodes. Under of Thumb is the other one because it's the opposite, more fun and poppy, with a catchy melody. I dig the rest of the songs, too. The Stones are still experimenting with different styles and trying to find their sound. I love this era of the Stones and just rock in general. It's right at the precipice of when music is about to make a huge change. #rollingstones #vinylrecords #vinylrecords by @erin41137

Suicidal Tendencies - Lights Camera Revolution - I remember seeing the video for You Can't Bring Me Down and thinking what a masterpiece. The video, the song, for me it's one of the best songs ever. The slow build and it's a head dive into thrash madness. It's not only that song in the album that is incredible! With new bassist Robert Trujillo, they create one of the most classic albums of all time. Isolation, religion, love, and of going psycho, all examined thoroughly by Mike Muir, with incredible guitar work by Rocky George. #tellemwhatsuprocky Love this record, listen to some part of it daily, and you should too. #suicidaltendencies #punkrock #metalmusic by @erin41137

The Queers - Love Songs For The Retarded - When I listen to The #Queers, it reminds me of some weird bizarro world in a Riverdale comic book. They're dumb, they're nilistic, and they're a lot of fun. I remember driving down to a car show in Michigan with my friend Leland and just blasting this out of his Dodge Dart. This was my idea of the punk rock American dream, driving on the highway, listening to good tunes, and trying to find a beer. LOL! Maybe I read too much Thompson at the time. Anyway, this is one of my favourite Queers albums. It's pop punk with a biting sarcastic edge to it. Great record, great songs, and great fun. #punk #vinylcollection #punkrock #vinylrecords by @erin41137
