I was cleaning today and came across a few good memories. I’ve been blessed to be backstage as both hair and press throughout my career. I love the rush; the adrenaline that comes from getting to the work! I especially love writing about it, which I have kind of taken a break from this past year. Martin, didn’t dream alone! 🙏🏽Here is a snippet from one of my presentations around hair and its role in our lives especially Black American lives. The salon and the barber shop were the pillars of our communities. In modern day they have been replaced by the beauty discount store owned by people who have no true investment or connection to its community stakeholders. Understanding the pivotal role hair professionals played in the civil rights movement is important to know. We are the silent hero’s, the background anchor, and support of our community. *Note at the beginning my internet silenced the video but it was brief. Hope you kept watching! Safety and Hazardous Salons Per State Board and Rules and Regulations. Licensed Professionals are not to wear open toed shoes or tank tops! It is a safety hazard. Protective gear should also be worn when dealing with chemicals and other materials.
