Moose and I hung out at the park this afternoon, sniffing all the smells and watching all the people and puppies and birds. It's hard because normally we'd be on a long walk, but over the last two months moose has lost his ability to do that. We're learning new ways to enjoy the world, but it hurts my heart.

In the last 3 months moose has recovered from surgery to remove the front of his lower jaw (bone cancer), emergency surgery to tie his larynx open to allow him to continue to breath (which caused him to lose his bark 😭), and hospitalization for pneumonia (consequence of the permanently open larynx). Every time he has recovered remarkably quickly, returning within hours to his happy, energetic, contagiously loving self. Now, due to nerve degeneration, he's also losing his ability to use his back legs, and it's heartbreaking to watch 💔 by @erinkatherinne

Moose had to have emergency surgery tonight. Second night in his decade with us that we've been apart. I'm sitting outside aching for him, but the sky is beautiful. by @erinkatherinne

I love this boy so much and he's had a rough 6 weeks. Long story short, he no longer has the front of his bottom jaw, but he also no longer has cancer and the most adorable side effect seems to be his tongue sticking out half the time 😂♥

Moose was diagnosed with aggressive (but non-metasticizing, thank goodness) cancer in his jaw and we had to rush to get him surgery to remove part of his jaw bone before it spread too far to remove. The surgery was a complete success, and he has been his usual resilient, happy, loving self through the whole process! by @erinkatherinne

My amazing sister is doing an externship at the VCA Veterinary Hospital in LA and I had a fantastic time hanging out with her and @mbustamante95 for a few days getting to know the city.

We ate awesome food, took in the (apparently) rare site of LA in the fog, lost our car keys at one beach and got petrol oil all over my hands at another, and talked a ton about if and how the city could ever fix its car/highway problem so it could realize its full potential.

My favorite part was spending hours on the Santa Monica peer with my sister riding ride after ride (including riding our favorite like 7 times) while fully letting ourselves escape and pretend to be children again.
