After leaving Florida Volleyball following the 2024 season (the greatest job ever), and taking a break from coaching, I began working for League One Volleyball (LOVB), a new pro league in the U.S. First I was working remotely, then I got a call with an offer to be the interim Director of Volleyball Operations for the Houston team - so I packed up and headed to Houston for five weeks. It’s been a journey to get here, as anyone who knows me also knows how hard I’ve worked in the volleyball world for a long time. And now I’m very excited to begin this next chapter of my life as the full-time DOVO for LOVB Houston! After getting to work with an awesome support staff and amazing players for my five-week stint, I knew I wanted to continue being a part of this growing league and specifically the Houston team. Thank you to my family (including work families) and friends who have supported me through the years - but especially Max, without whom I wouldn’t have the courage to do this. “Adventure is out there!”

If you know me, you know my life is sports. I never dreamed I’d get to go anywhere with it, I just always had love and passion for playing and, eventually, growing the game.

But then I got to coach at the college level.

I got to work for my childhood favorite team and Alma mater.

I got to travel the country.

I got to coach hundreds of rising athletes.

I got to meet some of my favorite people in the world.

I got to see professional volleyball in the United States.

And I get to work with a growing professional league, alongside national champions, current and former Olympians, leaders of the sport.

All because the girl in those last pictures refused to give up, refused to settle for a different job, refused to give anything less than 100%.

On this National Girls and Women in Sports Day, I’m reflecting on how grateful I am for this journey. I’ve seen so much growth of women’s sports in my lifetime, and I’m excited to continue to be part of it. Look out - we’re just getting started. by @erinmaynard7
