There’s something ironic about building a platform around women’s health while learning, in real time, how hard it can be to take care of your own.

The last few months have been full. Moving, work changes, and navigating my own health in ways I didn’t fully expect.

This didn’t stop. It just slowed down while I caught up with life.

I have a tendency to want things to feel perfect before I share them.
But this was never meant to be finished. It’s meant to grow.

The Gold Standard came from a need for clearer, more honest guidance — the kind I struggled to find when I was navigating it myself.

As Endometriosis Awareness Month comes to a close, it feels fitting 🎗️
Because awareness was never the end goal for me. It was just the beginning.

I’m finishing what I started.

One year ago, I finally got an answer for the pain I had been living with for years: endometriosis.

This photo is me long before I understood what was happening in my body. Before I understood how often women are dismissed, redirected, or told their pain is normal. Even leading up to surgery, I knew how much of a long shot it was. It felt like my last hope.

What I’ve learned since is that it doesn’t end with surgery. There is no cure, at least not yet. Healing is ongoing. Advocacy is ongoing. And even after diagnosis, women are still expected to navigate confusing systems, incomplete information, and care that isn’t always centered on what’s actually best for them.

I didn’t set out to build a platform. I set out to survive.
This came after.

The Gold Standard grew out of everything I wish I had known sooner and everything I wish had been easier to access. Not just awareness, but clarity. Not just validation, but direction. A place rooted in lived experience and the belief that women deserve better care, without added confusion layered onto pain.

This felt like the right time to share what I’ve been quietly building these past few months.

For the version of me who felt alone while navigating a disease I had only heard of months before surgery.
And for every woman still searching for answers.

Coming soon.

I did it for her 🎗️
On New Year’s Eve, I had a life-changing surgery for my endometriosis 💛 This isn’t the most glamorous post, but I wanted to share to raise awareness about this disease that impacts 1 out of every 10 women worldwide.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve silently suffered from extreme fatigue, intense period pain, and symptoms that resembled IBS. Over the past few years, I was referred to multiple doctors who dismissed my concerns, claiming it was ‘normal’ to have painful periods or insisting it was ‘all in my head.’ Despite countless blood tests, CT scans, and MRIs that appeared normal, I refused to accept their dismissals as the final answer and continued advocating for myself. Early November, I stumbled across information about endometriosis and I realized in that moment that I matched almost all of its symptoms. I immediately started doing my own research for the right surgeon to plead my case to. Through an endometriosis support group on Facebook, I found Dr. Vilasagar, Amber, and Alyssa. My first phone call with Amber alone, I felt heard. The VGS team took my symptoms seriously and confirmed that endo was most likely the cause of my suffering. Less than a month later, I flew to North Carolina for surgery, during which endometriosis was discovered around my bladder, uterus, rectum, ovaries, and other areas of my body. @drvilasagar_endosurgeon and her team truly saved my life. I honestly wouldn’t be here without them. Thank you for giving me my life back.
