we took a ghost tour with our driver Barry D’Alive
we wet our willies x 10000
we wore more glitter than humanly possible
we survived beach pilates (barely)
we made some friends (& enemies) along the way

Five years (?????) without my daddy 💔 Grief is so fucking weird. It’s weird to feel a physical trauma response in the days leading up to today. I also think it’s sickening that there will forever be a finite amount of photos and memories shared, and how there’s never going to be “more.” This silly little photo is from our last Christmas together and I simply will never be able to stomach that.

I can push these feelings down most days or even be really matter-of-fact about you not being here sometimes. But every single day of my life I think of you. I wonder very often about where your retiree road trip would have brought you and yearn for a chance to ride along with you and mom. I think about how much encouragement you would have given me through the life changes I’ve made in the past year and how often I need your support when I have self-doubt. I think you would have adored my adulthood friends who bring me endless joy and who you will never get to meet. I wish so badly I could call you and hear one of your favorite stories on repeat so I could roll my eyes at the punchline and laugh along with you.

So much of my life is different now and I often attest it to the fact that I lost you. Losing you showed me how to pursue what is most important in life: love, friendship, joy, happiness, etc etc etc!!!, and what a silver lining that is to be able to do. I hope that I can always continue to choose happiness in the wake of missing you, I think that’s what you’d like for us all to be able to do at least. Love you forever and ever and hope to see you in the stars again someday Big Fred. 🦅💛 by @erinninfelice
