🥳 Happy Birthday Ollie 🥳 What a whirlwind three years it has been. Ollie has brought so much light and laughter to this family. He is unique in so many ways. His personality, charisma, energy, stubbornness, is on another level. We love our little raspberry lover, blanket snuggler, craft maker, mud thrower, sticker hoarder, cat cuddler, lollipop licker, dare devil 🥰🥳 We love you OB. Big bro Seb loves his best friend too. We hope you have the best year! 3! @ido5sports 🎈🎁🎉 taken in The World by @erinstorie

September in Japan is at its peak autumn typhoon season, it’s been muggy, buggy, hot, and wet. That’s not stopping anyone from getting outside to have some fun.

We began the month by visiting the beach and aquarium at Enoshima and Enoshima island. The island was quaint and mostly accessible by walking around giant stone stairs. There was a collection of shrines and these cool Iwaya Caves you could walk into with a candle.

The next weekend we went to Tokyo- Odaiba Marine Park Sea Light Festival, there were thousands of glowing candles and lanterns along the waterfront, we had dinner and spent time at the shops.

Then the next next weekend we went to Tokyo Dome City for a Tokyo Giants Baseball game. They won 15-1. We stayed the night at the hotel. The next day we went to the Imperial Palace right downtown Tokyo. It served as the residential palace of the successive Emperors since 1868.

In between the weekends we had rainy walks to school, soccer practice and four soccer games. We have won them all and tied one. The boys have been great teammates lead scorers.

Logan has been training for his race in Washington D.C. next month. We are still waiting for our household goods……..

The season has changed from extremely hot to extremely rainy, but the boys still play outside. Excited for Halloween next month.

I hiked up Mount Fuji and it was amazing. It’s 3,776 m (12,387 feet ). It is Japan’s tallest mountain. My Strava said it was 9.19 miles, 6,050 feet elevation gain and 4h 23m of walking time for me.

It was supposed to rain, but we lucked out with the weather. I went with one of my friends from here and met a couple people along the way. Logan was so kindly watching the boys at home. Maybe next year we can do it together . It’s only open June- Sep 10.

The morning was clear, and rain moved in the afternoon. Stunning day for most of it. Mountains are unpredictable so you have to be prepared , every couple minutes and the weather could change. Logan and I lived in Colorado for a long time and we knew this.

Mount Fuji has 4 routes. My friend and I chose the Subashriri route. Very manageable hike. They have huts , and snacks all the way to the top. You can get ramen, coke, water, anything. The best souvenir was the walking stick you get stamped along the way. Some people do two days and stay in huts so you can see the sunrise, but a day is doable.

It can be crowded at the bottom but toward the top you can spread out more. It was nice seeing people along the way, if you did want to walk with other groups you can totally do that, but I had my watch running and didn’t stop too much. I also wanted to beat any rain that was going to roll in.

I give it a 8/10 , only because I didn’t get a summit view , or to see the crater, and I would’ve liked to take Logan and the boys.

I’d do it again. 🥰 taken in Summit Of Mt Fuji by @erinstorie

We made it to Japan. We had our first full month of August. It was hot and we did A LOT. We tried to fit in as much as we could before the routine of school and sports started.

We started going to Legoland for Seb’s birthday, then Yokohama, The Tokyo Tower, and every little street in between.

We found colorful parks, conveyor belt sushi, vending machines, trains, bullet trains, chopsticks, matcha, jello, 7-11, department stores that lead to more stores, Seria, claw machines, ramen, ice skating and so much more.

The boys have loved exploring but are ready to settle down with school. Seb is loving is teacher and talking about their feelings. Ollie likes to play with the trains he said. We will continue to explore on the weekends. 🫶✌️🇯🇵 @ido5sports taken in Japan by @erinstorie

Sebastian is starting 1st grade in Japan this year!!! 🇺🇸✈️🇯🇵 We are so proud of him, he’s such a kind soul. Over the last month, he’s had to deal with a lot of emotions leaving what we know in America, friend and family. He’s been strong and brave, but he’s so excited to start school, make new friends, and have his first soccer game this week. So many new things happening! ⚽️ 📚 ❤️ Mom, dad, and Ollie love you!! 🥰 @ido5sports taken in Zama Army Base by @erinstorie

Today is our last day in the USA before moving to Camp Zama Japan! 🇺🇸 ✈️ 🇯🇵

We’ve been stationed in Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington and now headed to a new country.

We loved being closer to family, we got to make so many trips down to Oregon. We also made so many new friends. We visited Canada, Mexico, and South Korea. We drove up the PCH on the Oregon and Washington Coast. We took a ferry to the San Juan Islands, hiked around Mount Rainer, and paddle boarded in Lake Tahoe. The thing I’ll miss the most is the access to running trails right outside my doorstep to the sound and sitting on my steps with my neighbors.

We truly enjoyed our time at JBLM and will truly miss the PNW. Thank you to the wonderful community in Washington for the memories. On to the next adventure! taken in DuPont, Washington by @erinstorie

💚 Griggs Street Girls Era 💚

I need to post about my absolute best friends and neighbors an army family could stumble upon. As I find myself reflecting on the past 2+ years and how unbelievably lucky I am to have had them as neighbors. Moving to Japan is exciting, but saying goodbye to friends who have become like family is bittersweet.

Thank you, Griggs Street Girls, whether it was, daily group chat memes, deployments, winter for 6 months , lake trips, Mexican lunch dates, playing sports, or just sitting in front of our houses, you made this street feel like home. Your kindness, warmth, and generosity have left such a lasting mark the Storie family, and we am so grateful for all the small moments that brightened our days.

Thank you for being the best neighbors and friends anyone could ask for. You’ve shaped who we am , and we will miss our time together more than words can say. This definitely isn’t goodbye, just a “see you later.”

Grateful for our Griggs Street Girls Era 💚🫶
