let’s get into it

🪺What I’m reading •
Currently reading Under The Whispering Door by TJ Klune - TJ Klune is one of my favourite authors so I’m already enjoying it and I’m only 40 pages in.

🪺What I’m listening to •
Ok I got my first audio book - I’m listening to the first couple chapters of A Little Life and intend to switch to reading it when I’m fully into it.

🪺What I’m watching •
I started rewatching One Tree Hill and I’m not ok, someone send help.

🪺What I’m looking forward to •
You know what, I’m just excited to see where this year goes. I have been working really hard the last couple weeks being healthy and active and maintaining a routine to keep my mental health in check and I have so much energy that I want to channel into just some good ol’ fashion self improvement! I really hope it lasts. Noooo it will last.

It has been a minute since I have posted - I was in Athens for a short period and have relocated to North Macedonia for a couple of weeks. I have been feeling a little travel fatigue and trying to be present in the current moment.

I am still currently reading Kills well with others by Deanna Raybourn and really enjoying it!

Have you been to Athens?! Do you have any recommendations of must dos, must sees, must eats?!

📚 I LOVED the first book in this series Killers of a Certain Age and when I saw the author came out with a follow up book I knew I needed to get it.

📖 The Tenant by Freida McFadden

REVIEW ;

“ Is it such an awful thing to want retribution against people who have wronged you?”

Blake Porter, newly promoted and recently engaged to Krista, suddenly loses his job under scandalous accusations, leaving him and Krista struggling to pay their mortgage. In desperation, they rent out a room to the seemingly perfect Whitney, but soon Blake begins noticing strange smells, noises, and disappearances around the house. As secrets unravel, Blake realizes nothing about the two women is what it seems.

So the thing with Freida books is yes they are all fast paced, readable, short chapters BUT that does not mean it always hits - not like her old stuff. Did the twist shock me though? Yes it did but not in a WOW way more like a “wait.. seriously?” kind of way. A lot of this book felt like plot over logic, half the time I was scratching my head thinking “are these people for real?”, I don’t mind suspending beliefs to an extent for thrillers but I need to feel more immersed In the characters and these ones were cartoonish and frustrating. I’m not mad at this read or regret reading it in any sense, I still found it very page turning but I’m mildly disappointed and was yearning for one of Freida’s older books, they were just so good.

📖 current read : The Tenant by Freida McFadden

Haven’t read a Freida book in a minute and I always fly through her books so hereee we go !

In just about a week I fly to Greece for a month and I am so excited but yet so tired from the constant travel, it will be nice to be in one place for a whole month. 🇬🇷🇬🇷

📖 Normal People by Sally Rooney
⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

REVIEW;

“I’m not a religious person but I do sometimes think God made you for me.”

Disclaimer: I understand that Normal People is widely loved and very popular. I recognize the talent in Sally Rooneys writing but some things are not for everyone, simply put.

This read did not go without any enjoyment, but it definitely had to be one of the most frustrating books I have ever read. I have never read characters who had such incompetence communicating, so much so that it made me want to throw this book out of a high rise window. Although I grew very tiresome of Marianne and Connell’s dynamic I was drawn to continue reading as I found Rooney’s writing very compelling. Rooney weaves in commentary about class and socioeconomic status allowing the reader to pause and reflect on their own privilege or lack there of, which I appreciated. But alas, I found just about every character to be extremely mediocre and (I’m sorry) annoying. Reading through the train wreck that was Marianne and Cornell’s relationship was nothing less than painful. I will stop with just saying this book was simply just not for me.

Library: Rijksmuseum Research Library

Amsterdam was so beautiful and surreal, 2 days was not enough. Thankful I have the opportunity to see these beautiful countries and experience these cultures. ❤️

📖 currently reading: Normal People by Sally Rooney

Ok this is a long time coming for me - everyone LOVES this book but I don’t have high hopes for it for me but we will see!!!

I have been doing so much travelling lately with little weekend trips here and there and I am exhausted, I need to slow down!!

📖 With a Vengeance by Riley Sager
⭐️⭐️.5 / 5

REVIEW ;

“Revenge is fleeting. Vengeance lasts a lifetime.”

Anna Matheson traps six people from her past on a private train, planning to expose their secrets. But when passengers start turning up dead, she realizes someone else wants revenge. Trapped in a blizzard, Anna must find the killer before the journey ends.

It honestly pains me to give this such a low rating since I usually love Sager’s books and I was so excited for this release. I have to say, I was bored out of my mind 85% of this book - like I honestly can’t believe I finished it. I found almost every character to be insufferable, and each plot twist to be even more nonsensical than the last. Not to mention it was impossible to follow along and there were no clever hints into who was actually the murderer as they just accused everyone on the train over and over. At the point of the story where you do find out who the killer is, it is honestly just hard to even care anymore. All in all, I found the premise of this book very cool and a huge missed opportunity.

Hi friends I’m about 1 and half weeks into my Belgium stay and loving it here so much.

🍂 what am I reading: I started With a Vengeance by Riley Sager and I won’t lie I’m struggling with it - thankfully I had a 2 hour flight today and I had nothing better to do but push my way through some of it and I think I’m getting closer to the thick of it?? Help??

🍂 what am I watching: I’m desperate for a new show to watch. I just finished Apple Cider Vinegar (crazy), and Adolescence (also crazy), and now I’m wasting time watching love is blind UK season 2, help me.

🍂 what am I listening to: I’m going to the Drake concert in Germany tomorrow so he’s on repeat until then !!!!

In Germany the next couple days exploring, I hope you all are having a wonderful week 💕

Ok I bought this ages ago and I let goodreads ratings deter me for far too long

FRIENDS! I made it to Belgium!!! After having a nightmare Airbnb situation in Ghent and needing to get a refund… you don’t want to even know - we quickly found a place in Antwerp and are loving settling in here! We went from dry Hungarian heat straight to fall weather in Belgium and I’m in love 💛💛
