〰️🐚 Today, we warmly welcome back Dystopia Biennial on our SAVVYZΛΛR radiowaves:
Organized by Errant Sound since 2018, the 5th edition of the sound art festival – Global Dystopia – is directed & curated by Mario Asef and co-curated by Janine Eisenächer and Laura Mello. It examines the aesthetic, political, and epistemological dimensions of listening in a world shaped by multiple, interconnected crises. The featured works investigate sound as a medium of knowledge, memory, and imagination, asking how attentive ears can render complex realities perceptible.

In this session, Laura Mello presents excerpts of the opening performances on 26.09.2026 at HAUNT/frontviews by Tintin Patrone, Staffan Westerlund, and Lisa W Carlson, as well as a conversation by Txulunh Gakran and João Voia about their installation GÓ TE VẼ KÉKE MŨ (The Earth Speaks) – Memories of Life and Resistance of the People of the Sun. Subsequently, we listen to Jasmina Al-Qaisi’s last work on melisma and how to mourn the future loss of the Dead Sea.

apocatastasis votum • the activation • 25.09.26

this project began with a gift. when i was a child in russia, i sat with an old potter who pressed a small vessel into my hands: “fill it with water and make a wish, and when the water is gone, your wish will be true.”

this summer i made eleven palm-sized vessels, one for each of us, to carry through a full moon cycle. a gift of hope. a quiet ritual.

on the opening evening we departed our homes across berlin in hummed our way to the water, each a lullaby of our own, until we found one another and our voices melted into one pool of sound at the dock.

our soft, watery eclipse 🌕

“Regeneration Strategies” is a transcontinental network of research stations and multidisciplinary projects developing regenerative interventions in regions where ecosystem biodiversity has been affected by human interference. Proposed by Charly Nijensohn, it invites scientists, bio-builders, artists, and local communities to develop biotopes using natural elements characteristic of their geography, featuring adobe sculptures designed to provide shelter for regional and migratory animals.

For the Dystopia Biennale, the presentation features a 5-channel video installation documenting biological evolution and research at the Pampas del Zonda research station in the Andes mountain range, accompanied by a live performance with Johannes Haase (Violin & Electronics) and Charly Nijensohn.

Sprache).

@soundtrackcity @aifoonvzw

Thank you for joining the kickoff of Interspecies Listening Communities with the exhibition "Sonic Placemaking Berlin* - a week-long dedication to urban speculative listening", including the two sound walks in the allotment gardens at Westkreuz and on Tempelhofer Feld!

It was great to share our listening experiences and to become aware of the specific sonic qualities of these places. Now we can start speculating about the aural experience of other species we encountered on these walks and how we all interact with sound and with one another.

Again, it became very clear that these "sonic places" (Peter Cusack) are totally worth being kept and maintained instead of being taken away for building on these grounds. They are important places for citizens to calm and cool down, to listen and breathe, and they are home to many animals and plants. Both places are endangered of vanishing due to new constructions, and 40 of the allotment gardens at Westkreuz have been demolished already related to constructing the new highway bridge.

If you want to know more and listen to both places, come by the exhibition! It's on until Sunday, 27th September, every day from 5 pm to 8 pm. On Friday, 25 September and Saturday, 26 September, we keep the space open for one-on-one appointments to have specific exchange and conversations. If you like to have a slot, please, write to:

Martina M. Yáñez is a Chilean sound artist and researcher. Her work focuses on interactions between nature and its technical constructions. By exploring both human and non-human perception, her work unfolds through the material and historical contexts of technology, using it as a central axis for thinking through large-scale planetary interactions between the organic and the mechanical.

Through live performances, listening devices, and sound installations, she calls for alternative ways of reconfiguring our biological, cultural, and historical environments.

Her work has been presented at festivals and biennales across the Latin American scene, as well as in galleries and media arts events in Europe, including Soundsabout Gallery, Berlinische Galerie, and PIF Camp Slovenia. Her writings have been published in sound and contemporary arts journals and magazines, including ((en))clave Sonora, Cuadernos de Arte, and Sul Ponticello.

Luftzeug

Luftzeug is a listening device designed to dialogue with the air and the skies. By installing a floating antenna in floating university, the piece wonders about the historical role of the air and sky as both natural mediums and warfare systems. Being in within the facilities of former Tempelhof Airport, Luftzeug proposes a form of listening to geopolitical tensions through different planetary surfaces.

Designed to be seen from above and heard from below, Luftzeug explores the blurred boundary between listening and monitoring, between earthy inhabitation and human control. Between ground, water and air.

We warmly welcome you to the research exhibition "Sonic Placemaking Berlin - a week-long dedication to urban speculative listening", which opens today as part of Errant Sound' new collaborative project INTERSPECIES LISTENING COMMUNITIES*!

In this project, we're going to work in two strands - Sonic Placemaking Berlin and Trans(it)klang - in and with local neighbourhoods at contested sites in public space - 1) Tempelhofer Feld, 2) Westkreuz and 3) Leopoldplatz - in order to find out how we listen to others listening, how we listen-with other beings and species, and what a place in public space could sound like (differently)...

Part one is realised by Sonic Placemaking Berlin during the next week. Everyone interested can join the sound walks and talks!
