My latest podcast appearance is among my favorites of all time!

When I first met @kassylaborie , I was already a fan.

I owned a dog-eared, highlighted, well-worn copy of her first book, Interact and Engage!, so I knew she was brilliant.

What I didn't know was that we would become friends. Kassy is one of those rare folks who surprises and inspires me every time we connect.

And that was doubly triply true when she invited me to be on her podcast, The Spark Konnect!

The episode came out today! In it, you'll find Kassy and I talking about the first time I ever facilitated the Party-Rockin Leader keynote dance party experience, and how the participants and I transformed a drab, aggressively beige hotel ballroom into a club. Our wide-ranging conversation covers artistry and authenticity in leadership, why dancing makes learning more effective, why the "f*ck AI" movement isn't helping humans, and so much more!

I had so much fun talking to Kassy about what we all can learn from DJs about leadership and humanizing the workplace, and I hope you have at least as much fun listening!

Link to the podcast in bio.

The episode comes out later this week, but here's a little preview of Kassy and I talking about the first time I ever facilitated the Party-Rockin' Leader keynote dance party experience, and how the participants and I transformed a drab, aggressively beige hotel ballroom into a club.

I had so much fun talking to Kassy about what we all can learn from DJs about leadership and humanizing the workplace, and I think you're gonna have at least as much fun listening when the episode comes out on Wednesday. Meanwhile, enjoy the clip!

Another transcendent experience with @shuddertothinkofficial in NYC.

Last night's show at @boweryballroom lifted me up and lightened my load in ways I really needed.

So grateful to these fine gentlemen for decades of meaningful musical moments.

Every time feels like the best kind of family reunion!

Also loved being introduced to the magic of @miss_grit

And a very happy birthday to @nato911 !!!

Oh boy! Our egos can be fragile little things, can't they?
Speaking for myself, I know how easily I can take nearly any situation and make it about me.
And that's true for both praise and blame.
But if we want to be party-rockin' leaders -- people working to bring out the best in their fellow humans -- then we've got to put the ego to the side.
The party-rockin' leader isn't the star of the organization any more than a party-rockin' DJ is the star of the party.
(Also, can I just say that @squash_stretch_productions is an excellent interviewer? Check out @humanconnectionpodcast on YouTube.)

I had a great conversation with Karl Pontau a while back that covered a lot of ground.

One of the important topics we discussed was:

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?

📈It's not about the metrics.
🤑It's not about the money.
🧭It's not even about the mission.

The purpose of an organization -- any organization -- is to 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.

If we pursue that purpose, everything else will follow.

In everything I do -- whether it's speaking about leadership and workplace culture, DJing a party, writing a record review, or just being a person -- my mission is to 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

𝘜𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺, there are multiple threats to human dignity right now -- in the workplace and beyond.

𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺, we defenders of human dignity outnumber the threats.
