Everything dissipates - A short film by Daim Niehorster
This short film is about the absoluteness of letting go of everything, it is a testiment to the fear I was having near the end of my volunteering experience, the fear of letting go of everything I have built up within Slovenia. It showcases Mari letting go in the most extreme sense but also the dread to find a new way of living.

A Search for (Our) Identity:

Five people. Five conversations. Five completely different perspectives on what it means to be human.

Albert Yuldashev (ESC Volunteer from @zavodbob):
"If life is meaningless, which I feel like is just a universal truth, that means you can just do anything. That means that life has so much to give, that you can do so much if everything else is just nothingness, and you can just build on top of that and change it any way you want."

Filip Zemljič:
"I think all of us crave connections. I think everybody wants to have at least one person who would be there, who would sometimes laugh at their jokes, who would listen to them, who would ask them about how their day was."

Esther Schwigon:
"You don’t even need language to feel connected. You don’t need to understand each other through language, you can also understand each other just by being in the same place at the same time. Or by looking into each other’s eyes, because you know the other person is so much like you."

Myroslava Holovko (ESC Volunteer from @zavodmanipura):
"We live our lives for the first time, and it’s pointless to be quiet and boring. You need to take the most from every experience, from every opportunity."

A Search for (Our) Identity:

It all started with a simple question: Who am I?
That question slowly turned into many more: What shapes us? How well do we really know ourselves? What connects us as human beings?

Looking for answers, I interviewed five young people and asked them questions about identity, belonging, purpose, and human connection. Their answers were completely different, each offering a unique perspective on what it means to be human.
Maybe I didn't find my own identity through this project, but I learned something very valuable: behind every face, there is a story. Getting a glimpse into these people's thoughts inspired me and made me reflect on the kind of person I want to become.

This video is an introduction to the project. The post below features the five people I interviewed. Each portrait is accompanied by a quote and a link to the full conversation.

🎬 FOR(EST) FOR FUTURE

Živjo! 👋🏻 After months of work, I can finally share my project “For(est) for Future”.

After spending 10 months living in Slovenia, I found myself constantly drawn to its forests. The more time I spent in them, the more I realized how much they had to teach us. That’s how “For(est) for Future” was born. 🌲💚

What can you find in the project?

📸 A photography exhibition featuring four forests in Slovenia: Kočevski Rog, Pokljuka, Žlebe Forest and Tivoli Park.

🌱A small website with information about the forests, the project, and useful resources.

I hope this project inspires you to see forests the way Slovenia taught me to see them, and reminds you why they’re worth protecting.
