Introducing the band...

It's about time we said a proper hello! 👋

We're Escape Route, a 4 piece rock band from Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire with a banging set of rock-infused originals and a growing list of epic covers🤘

We've played all over with some great gigs at Club 85, The Horn, The Castle, The Corn Exchange, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Todd in the Hole and Balstock.

Mikey's the host with the most, the guy with the words + writer of Escape Route's original music. He's a huge champion of the local music scene and you can find him gigging solo or with Escape Route almost every weekend. He also runs NxtGen Promotions, introducing new talent to the stage each month.

Favourite Bands: Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Mammoth, Robert Jon and The Wreck.

Loves: The chat. A round of darts 🎯 Pushing each other creatively.

Musical hero: Freddie Mercury, Henry James, Chris Carrabba.

Drink likely to bring to a rehearsal: Brewdog IPA

Secretly wishes: He had an excuse to dress in full Kiss make-up on stage.

What a magnificent bassist and what a magnificent beard. If it's under 2khz and rumbles Dave is your guy. He changes his pedals over every other day just for your sonic enjoyment and is the band music theory specialist.

Favourite bands: Black Sabbath, Incubus.
Loves: Correctly identifying if it's an A sharp or a B flat, being creative, unusual anthropormorphic animal stories (more on this soon 😂)
Musical hero: Pino Palladino.
Drink most likely to bring to a rehearsal: Some sort of craft ale.
Secretly wishes: Other people appreciated his octave bass pedal as much as he does.

Jake might be all about the vocals, but in reality he spends more time than he should thinking about what t-shirt he should be wearing to gigs and whether there are any conditions where it's appropriate to wear shorts on stage (simple answer: none). A singer, songwriter and guitarist, Jake has gigged all over Herts and Beds.

Favourite bands: Manic Street Preachers, My Chemical Romance.
Loves: That feeling when it all clicks.
Musical hero: Mark Knopfler

Honestly take us back to July 11th 2026. It's 7pm, 28 degrees, everyone on Pirton Rec has had a least half a jug of Pimms. The World Cup isn't going to be sold for $20bn, England are about to beat Norway, there's not even a hosepipe ban yet and this back four are going to hold out against Argentina to take them to penalties in the semi final.

Things you can't see in these photos but we promise genuinely existed at Overfest:

Moshpit of 7 year olds, epic sound, Dave and Mike playing Into The Unknown from Frozen and The Pokémon theme before their Escape Route set. Oh and KPop, let's not forget the KPop. Frazzled but happy parents sitting on hay bales + a lot of money raised.

Have to say this has been a brilliant and extremely varied run of summer gigs, we've loved it ☀️🙌
