. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ✴︎ We are pleased to announce our photographer of the month, the introspective Rodrigo. May these photos disrupt your usual thinking and put you into a state of deep reflection. Sit with these photos for a moment and allow them to swallow you up. The Q&A below expands on the vision he has for his photography and an in-depth understanding of what he sees.

Q: We see a lot of texture within your photography, what drew you to textures rather than traditional landscapes and portraits?
A: Traditional landscapes and portraits often seek to capture a complete, comforting illusion of reality—a surface that offers immediate recognition. Instead, I am drawn to textures, the grain of decay, and the material skin of the ordinary because they function like the Lacanian Real: that which resists symbolization, disrupts our neat categories, and breaks through the polite fictions of the everyday. Texture operates as a mute witness to time and erosion, forcing the viewer to confront the raw materiality of existence rather than a polished reflection.

Q: What makes you stop and photograph an otherwise ordinary or overlooked scene?
A: It is an encounter with the absurd, in the Camusian sense. Camus spoke of those moments when the familiar stage collapses, when a routine scene is stripped of its customary meaning and reveals its silent, indifferent core. An overlooked wall, a fading flower, or a forgotten object catches my eye precisely because they belong to the periphery of human utility. Stopping to frame them is an act of lucid attention—a way of embracing the mute silence of the world rather than fleeing from it into distraction.

. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ✴︎ We are pleased to announce our photographer of the month, the whimsical Erika 🪄 Featuring 20 of her imaginative and fantasy driven Polaroids, please pause what you’re doing and allow yourself to be immersed in her world for a moment. The Q&A below explores her creative techniques and what inspires her 🎞️💓

Q: Your photographs seem to exist somewhere between documentation and fantasy. What draws you to combining found objects, collage, and Polaroids instead of keeping the images purely photographic?
A: I like that description of my art being between documentation and fantasy. I think I’ve always been someone who likes to push the bounds of experimentation until a piece looks and feels “right” to me. I like being involved in creating and moving beyond what’s expected, and I like working things into my art like color, texture, and objects that appeal to me in order to elevate and beautify my finished pieces.

Q: What is your creative process when applying designs to different Polaroids. Do you visualize this prior to capturing the photo or is it decided afterwards?
A: My process is always quite organic, meaning to say that ideas are rarely not flowing, and I don’t think too preliminarily. When it comes to adding media to my Polaroids, the photos always come first. A lot of times, if the Polaroid feels incomplete, I envision what I’d like it to look like in order for it to feel “complete.” In other cases, the Polaroid “fails” (too blurry, doesn’t develope properly, I don’t like the composition), and instead of discarding it, I make art out of it with cut outs from magazines, rhinestones, stickers and glitter. No Polaroid goes to “waste”.

. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ✴︎ We are pleased to announce our photographer of the month, the inspiring @daniel.iroh 💫 Take a moment to explore his diverse film shots; from delicate home settings, to the studio and even the streets. Get to know Daniel by reading the Q&A below 🫶🎞️

Q: You do a lot of work inside of people’s homes. These are intimate settings for both the subject and yourself. How you do you approach capturing personalities and uniqueness within your subjects, especially if someone may be camera-shy?
A: I believe capturing people in their homes serves as a physical reflection of their personalities. Over the course of starting this project, I’ve found that people feel more relaxed and comfortable being in a space familiar to them and this makes it easier to let down your guard. These At Home sessions also lend themself to being slow and methodical while setting up my medium format camera for photos. This creates room for conversations between myself and the subject that range anywhere from the mundane to deep conversations about life which also helps ease their minds further about the process.

Q: Your recent b&w studio portraits are stunning. Can you tell us how studio work compares to work in people’s homes? Does working in the studio change the way you connect with your subjects?
A: My recent studio work started out as an exploration not just into editorials, but also as a way to learn how to work with lighting better. As a self-taught photographer, these studio shoots help me experiment with different lighting techniques , hence why no two studio shoots will look the same. And unlike my At Home project which is being shot with a specific color film(Kodak Portra 800), the studio shoots have served as an opportunity for me to try how different b/w film stocks look!
