Addiction is rarely the problem. It’s the solution to the pain that was too much at one point in your life to feel and now continues on.

● A part that drinks so the memories quiet down.
● A part that works nonstop so there’s no space to feel.
● A part that keeps sleeping with people just to not feel alone.
● A part that stays strong because falling apart never felt like an opition.

When life teaches you early that emotions aren’t safe, parts step in to protect you from these emotions.

Underneath those protector parts are parts holding the pain that was never meant to be carried alone but now is.

Healing isn’t about shaming the strategy. It’s about the awareness of the story and the witnessing of emotion that is underneath. taken in Humble Heart Counseling and Consulting by @espositotherapy

Self-compassion isn’t weakness.

So many of us push harder when we’re struggling if we just grind, perform, numb, distract more we can get over what we are feeling. Radical idea... what if the work isn’t more force… it’s more kindness?
This 5-week open group is for anyone 18+ wanting to build a different relationship with themselves.

We’ll explore self-compassion, belonging, somatic practices, breathwork, journaling, and trauma-informed approaches in a safe and supportive space.

All genders 18+
Tuesdays 5–7pm | March 3–30

“Take a vacation from hating yourself.”

Radical? Yes... but in a culture built on self doubt it is the most rebellious act you can do.

What would your life look like if you stopped hating yourself even for a day?

Just for today.. talk to yourself the way you would talk to your close friend who is struggling and see how you feel.

When we stop fighting who we are, something shifts.

Carl Rogers reminds us that acceptance isn’t giving up... it's the doorway to growth. The harder we push against our feelings, our history, or the parts of ourselves we judge the more stuck we feel.

Real change begins the moment we can look at ourselves and say, “This is me, right now.” From that grounded place, there’s room for curiosity, new choices and healing.

X - Notice where you’re holding tension trying to “fix” yourself?

X- What would it feel like to meet that part of you with compassion instead? taken in Meridian, Idaho by @espositotherapy

Grief is one of the hardest human experiences because it doesn’t follow a clear path. There’s no “right way” to grieve, no set timeline and no single roadmap that works for everyone. Some days it may feel like you’re making progress and the next day the weight of loss can hit just as hard as it did in the beginning.

The truth is...grief is deeply personal. How it shows up for you may look completely different than it does for someone else, and that’s okay. Healing isn’t about “getting over” loss but learning how to carry it in a way that honors both your pain and your capacity for life.

If you’re grieving, give yourself permission to move at your own pace. You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re human and your process matters.

Football season and real changes to our bodies and mind.

As a species, we’ve drifted away from tracking the natural cycles of the seasons. So when your body reacts to these changes, it might feel surprising — but don’t fret! These responses are normal and deeply human.

Shorter days and less sunlight affect our circadian rhythm, which regulates sleep, mood, and energy. Less sunlight also lowers vitamin D production which can impact immune function and serotonin levels, sometimes leading to fatigue or a "depressed" mood. Temperature shifts push our bodies to adjust metabolism and circulation often making us crave warmer foods, more rest, and steady movement.

---------‐---
Fall is your reminder to tune in:

X Prioritize sleep and daily rhythms.

X Get outside for daylight when possible.

X Nourish yourself with seasonal foods. Soup season is upon us ;).

X Keep your body moving to support mood and circulation. Fall walks anyone?
--------------

Your body is designed to adapt with the cycles of nature. In a culture that constantly pushes us to go faster, do more and produce endlessly fall reminds us to slow down and listen to your body, to your needs and to your own inner rhythm.

When you are able to quiet the noise and turn inward your parts reveal to you the map: the story of your past, the truth of who you are and the path ahead. Your body knows, you just have to listen with
compassion.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to get more training in IFS and wanted to keep spreading the message of what IFS is.
•
As the founder of Internal Family Systems Richard Schwartz explains, the mind isn’t one unitary voice, it’s a system of parts.
Each part holds a story, a purpose and a protective role. Even when they show up in extreme ways, those parts are not the problem, they’re just stuck in old roles.
•
IFS helps us listen to these parts with curiosity instead of judgment and in doing so we help them transform into healthier more functional roles. None of them are disposable. Every single part is valuable in
your system.

Hear me out about IFS..
•
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a counseling theory that makes understanding of the different “parts” inside of us. We all have them…like the part that wants to succeed, the part that gets anxious, the part that avoids conflict or the part that gets loud when we’re hurt.
•
Instead of seeing these parts as problems or something to get rid of, IFS views them as protectors. Each part of us developed for a reason, often to help us survive, belong or feel safe.
•
Sometimes, these parts can get stuck in old roles. For example, after a fight with your partner you might notice it feels like a younger version of you takes over…the one who felt powerless, abandoned, or
angry years ago. That’s a part showing up from the past, still carrying the weight of an earlier experience.
•
IFS creates space to understand these parts instead of battling them. The goal isn’t to get rid of them but to build a relationship with them. And underneath it all is your core Self-the steady, compassionate part of you that can lead your inner system with clarity and calmness.
•
IFS isn’t about labeling you as broken. It’s about learning how your inner world works and discovering that even the most reactive or hurting parts of you actually make sense. The work is about helping those parts feel seen, understood and safe so they don’t carry the same burdens or run the show anymore. Overtime, your Self becomes the one leading and your parts can take on healthier and less extreme roles. taken in Meridian, Idaho by @espositotherapy

No, I don’t think everyone needs to go to therapy.
•
In fact, there are countless ways to go inward, find patterns and heal. Some people discover peace through spiritual practice while others climb mountains or make connections through working out.
•
However, sometimes these approaches don’t fully resolve the deeper wounds. They can bring relief, strength and/or insight but may not get to the root of what keeps us stuck.
•
This is when therapy can come in:
◽️Those who feel stuck in cycles they can’t break on their own
■ Those whose pain is tied to trauma, grief, or loss
■ Those living with the weight of traumatic experiences
■ Those navigating anxiety or depression that keeps resurfacing
■ Those wanting a space to process and learn new tools
... and this is just to name a few
•
Therapy isn't the only way to heal but for many it's the way that helps healing go deeper. taken in Meridian, Idaho by @espositotherapy
