The Fukushima United FC stadium, designed by VUILD Architects, is a 5,000-seat timber venue where every joint is engineered for disassembly and every material is designed with its second life in mind. Inspired by the Shinto ritual of rebuilding shrines on regular cycles, the roof takes its form from the steep thatched houses of Ōuchi-juku, a historic post town in Fukushima.

Last week we wrote about Japan demolishing its Metabolist buildings because the renewal mechanism never worked. This stadium is engineering the renewal from day one.
