What God is doing in your life doesn’t have to make sense to others. Trust His timing, His process, and His purpose. 🤍

Yesterday’s Suicide Prevention discussion was a beautiful reminder of how important it is to simply ask, “How are you feeling?”

We never truly know the battles someone may be facing behind closed doors, which is why creating space for honest conversations, listening without judgment, and reminding people that they matter is so important.

Together, we went over the Suicide Prevention Toolkit, discussed warning signs, the importance of checking in, available resources, and some of the ways we can better support someone who may be struggling.

It may have been a small group, but it was a powerful one. I’m grateful that I was able to help in some way, even if it was simply by listening, encouraging someone, or bringing a little positivity into someone’s story.

Suicide prevention isn’t just about the month of September. These conversations matter all year long.

A special thank you to @gardengourmetmarkett for generously donating the breakfast platters for our discussion. We truly appreciate your continued support.

Saturday night, my grandmother and I both got to experience the United Palace for the first time. After all these years of being New Yorkers, I can’t believe neither one of us had ever been inside, but I’m so glad my first time was with her. ❤️

Growing up in a Dominican household, Milly Quezada was part of the soundtrack of my life. I’ve listened to her music for as long as I can remember, so being able to watch her story was already special. But as an artist, a Dominican woman who was raised in New York my entire life, and as a granddaughter whose grandma helped pave the way, so much of her story resonated with me.

Watching Milly speak about her grandmother and the sacrifices she made for her family to have an opportunity here in the United States really touched me, especially because I was sitting right next to my own grandmother. She is the reason my mother and her siblings were able to come to this country, and ultimately why I was born here and able to be raised in New York my entire life. 🙌🏼🗽

That part of the film was such a full circle moment for me. To be watching it with the very woman who helped create the life that I have today was something I’ll never forget.

The entire cast did such an amazing job bringing her story to life. The lead actress @sandyhernandezcross portrayed Milly’s journey so beautifully.

Thank you to the @nylatinofilmfestival for creating space for stories like this, @millythemovie and thank you @milly_quezada for not only sharing your incredible voice with the world, a voice that has been part of my family for so many years, but for sharing your story with us too.

And of course, there were A LOT of waterworks. 😂🥹❤️ taken in United Palace by @estelastarrmusic
