When last did you acknowledge and celebrate your team progress? MAYBE your team members are not Lazy but just disengaged.

Corporate culture has normalized exhaustion under the disguise of productivity. But, I refuse to accept that these things equate productivity anymore;

1. Always working and never having the time for equally important personal activities or time to connect with real people.
2. Not using up your leave. This isn’t productivity, it’s self-worth tied to work.
3. Working “every” weekends especially if it wasn’t in the original agreement. To me, it just feels like the need to prove yourself.
4. “Always” working very late into the night: If I always have to work late into the night because I think things might go wrong the next day, it doesn’t just show a lack of boundaries but also a lack of structure. If your work cannot survive at least a day or night of rest, then you’ve not built a sustainable system.
5. Working for 5 years or more in the same company with no clear career growth plans. This isn’t loyalty, it shows a lack of Value.

Burnout doesn’t signify high performance or productivity! There are better metrics to measure performance and level of productivity.

If you work a fully onsite role, how are you coping??

This doesn't apply to people working in Oil and Gas please😂😭 by @estheraigbeh

They say hate the game and not the player. But if we are being honest, we only hate the game because we’ve not learned how to play it smartly and win at it.

What’s your stance on Office Politics? by @estheraigbeh

Consideration is the purest form of love and this applies to the workplace as well. Employee well-being isn’t just Friday pizzas or fancy staff retreats.

It’s in the daily people operations and the little random efforts that make employees feel valued and considered.

A healthy and supportive work culture isn’t built in a day or a weekend and it doesn't appear immediately after a staff retreat or staff dinner.

Spend on experiences, yes but invest in everyday culture more importantly and watch your employees not just show up but also thrive.

“We’ll fix HR when we grow.”

At first, nothing looks wrong. Small team, Flexible structure, Everyone seems to be “figuring things out” just fine.

Then slowly, employees start getting frustrated, decisions begin to feel unfair, Compliance gaps begin to get obvious and threaten growth. Nobody really knows what’s going on.

And the worst part?
Your best employees stop caring and eventually leave.

HR isn’t something you set up later because by the time you realize you need it, the damage is already too serious.

So while I agree that you don’t need a “full HR team” yet, you however do need structure. Because by the time it starts affecting your people, it’s already affecting your business.

If you’ve seen this happen before, let me know. in the comment.👇

This is the conversation Nigerian organisations need to be having. Building a strong performancermance culture begins firstly with the CEO, because if the CEO isn’t living it, nobody else will see a reason to.

Which of these 6 is your organisation currently struggling with the most? Drop it in the comments.
