Being part of the EcoLeaders Accelerator Programme is more than facilitating sessions; it is about sharing knowledge, nurturing ideas, and empowering young people to become agents of change.

At the 2026 EcoLeaders Accelerator Programme Closeout Showcase and Green Innovation Pitch Ceremony, Mrs @estherfagbo, one of our Expert Faculty members, shared her experience being part of the journey and encouraged the EcoLeaders to take their learning beyond the programme.

As the programme comes to a close, the real work begins: putting knowledge into practice, developing innovative solutions, and turning ideas into meaningful environmental impact.

To our EcoLeaders, the charge is simple: keep learning, keep creating, and keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The world needs your ideas, your commitment, and your solutions.

The journey continues beyond the classroom! 💚

Today, I had one of my most relaxed, informative and engaging panel sessions yet, and I genuinely enjoyed myself! 🤍

I was on a panel at @propakwa PROPAK West Africa 2026 discussing: From Market Placement to Material Recovery: Closing the Data Gap in Nigeria’s Circular Packaging Value Chain.

One message I shared: If it is not recorded, it did not happen.

If we want to build a truly circular economy, we need to know what is placed on the market, what is collected, who collects it, where it goes and what ultimately gets recycled.

I also challenged something we have repeated for over a decade: the figure of less than 10% of plastics being recycled in Nigeria. Personally, I believe the sector has grown significantly and we need updated data to tell us where we really are today.

Really enjoyed this one! ♻️🌍

Thank you @recyclersinnigeria

Being in Enugu for the Nigeria National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue was a full-circle moment for me. ❤️🌱

One of the highlights was meeting Ogechi Nwonye- Bernard of Eco Cyclers again, one of Wecyclers Corporation ’s franchisees, whom I personally received at the airport when she was selected as a franchisee in 2023 and was part of the team that facilitated her training.

Years later, seeing the incredible work she is doing in Enugu State made me incredibly proud.

Ogechi is not only building impact through her work in the waste management and recycling space; she is also working closely with the Enugu State Ministry of Environment and the state’s waste management authority, contributing to conversations and actions around a more circular approach to plastics.

What made the moment even more special was our conversation about the work she is leading to advocate for policies that support plastic circularity in Enugu.

And then there was another layer to it, seeing her show up with her baby. 🥹❤️

As a fellow yummy mummy, I know firsthand that motherhood comes with an entirely new set of responsibilities. Yet, throughout her pregnancy and even after welcoming her baby(note, this is not her first baby), Ogechi kept showing up, doing the work and pushing for change.

It reminded me that impact is not always about grand moments. Sometimes, it is about the people you meet along the way, the seeds you plant, and the privilege of watching those seeds grow into something much bigger than you imagined.

I left Enugu not just proud of Ogechi, but deeply reminded of why partnerships, capacity building and investing in people matter.

Here’s to more women building, leading and shaping a more sustainable Nigeria, babies and all. 👩🏽‍🍼🌍 by @estherfagbo

A significant step for Nigeria’s plastics sector! 🇳🇬♻️

Two days ago, I represented @nigerianpap at the unveiling of the National Environmental (Plastic Waste Control) Regulations, 2026 by NESREA and the Federal Ministry of Environment.

For me, this is a reminder that meaningful change takes collaboration. Years of conversations across government, industry, recyclers, waste pickers, civil society and other stakeholders are now translating into a stronger regulatory framework.

The work doesn’t stop at the launch. Implementation is where the real transformation begins. And NPAP Nigeria is committed to supporting government and stakeholders to make the phased transition practical, inclusive and achievable.

A big congratulations to @nesreanigeria and everyone who has contributed to this milestone. 🌍💚

Culture Shock

Culture shock really does show up in the most unexpected ways.

I was recently in Kano State for a multi-stakeholder dialogue on plastic action. We were looking at the state’s progress on plastic circularity and also engaging stakeholders on the financing roadmap for plastic action.

But one thing that really stuck with me had nothing to do with the technical discussions.

Some people came in late. What surprised me was that when they eventually got the chance to speak or contribute, each of them first apologised to the room for being late and, in most cases, briefly explained why.

Honestly, I was taken aback, in a good way.

I found it really respectful.

It reminded me that sometimes culture teaches you things no training ever will. There was just this clear sense of respect for other people’s time and for the shared space we were all in.

And of course, I took that lesson with me.

Going forward:

First, I’ll make a real effort to show up early.

Second, if I’m ever late for reasons beyond my control, I’ll acknowledge it and apologise if I get the opportunity.

It might seem small, but respect for people’s time, effort, and presence really does matter.

I went to Kano for a conversation on plastic action and financing, but I left with something bigger: a reminder of how much we can learn when we actually pay attention to the people and cultures around us. by @estherfagbo

Plastic pollution is more than an environmental challenge. It’s also an investment challenge.

Without the right financing, even the best ideas struggle to scale. Building a circular plastics economy requires systems that unlock capital, support innovation, and enable sustainable growth.

These reflections from @estherfagbo , @nigerianpap Manager, at the National Plastic Summit 2026 remind us that solving plastic pollution is not just about managing waste. It’s about creating the right conditions for investment and action.

What financing solutions do you think can accelerate Nigeria’s circular economy?

The first time, you wonder if it was luck.

The second time, you start to believe in yourself.

The third time? That’s trust.

Was an honor to moderate a session at the Recyclers Association of Nigeria’s 3rd Annual Conference @recyclersinnigeria and doing so for the third consecutive year.

When an organisation keeps coming back to you, it says something far greater than any title or credential ever could. It says: we see you, we know what you bring, and we want it in the room again.

To the Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN) — thank you. Thank you for the confidence you’ve placed in me, not once, not twice, but three times. I don’t take that lightly. It’s a responsibility I carry with genuine pride and gratitude. by @estherfagbo

Earlier this year, I presented a position paper on behalf of @nigerianpap on the Ban of single-use-plastics.

We must continue to advocate for a phase-out ban, while ensuring that there are alternatives at scale. by @estherfagbo
