Emporia State Glass Guild. Student work, show announcements and Visiting Artists!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Still vibrating from an ultra pleasant time spent at this special place. @esuglassguild is a prime facility for glass in this region, that has given our community so many wonderful human beings making incredible artwork. A HUGE “Thank you” to the professor @kalestewart for inviting me to work with the students and demonstrate for the Art Crawl. Also, thank you Kale for everything you’re doing to give ESU’s glass and sculpture students the best possible experience. The commitment to your students’ success is evident, and I hope everyone has teachers like you in their programs.

Emporia State has gifted me some of my favorite friendships in the glass community. The soul of this place is impacting studios in every part of the country I’ve lived. It is truly a dream come true to come here as a visiting artist, and be a small part of these students’ journeys. I’ve left with a full cup and inspired to continue the good fight that is being a successful maker.

As always, I couldn’t do it without help. Thank you to @bigebh and Christian Salazar for surprising me with good energy and helpful hands. Of course it’s all love for my brother @zarroyo_glass for making time to help me cheese some ideas. A big thank you to @tea.seas_goodies for making the trek to Emporia everyday to glass ourselves to the fullest vibrations of joy possible! It was a beautiful time spent with friends. Until next time ESU 🫶🏼💛🖤🐝 taken in Emporia State University by @esuglassguild

Projects in Glass student Alyssa Carney finished up this Fantastic Dragon! The form was first modeled out of clay, then rubber molded and used lost wax casting to finish out the process. Nice job Alyssa!!

It’s time for final Art Forum of Spring 2026! Our Art Forum speakers for April will be Sam Spees and Blaine Steiner. Sam and Blaine both operate Spees Studios and their partnership offers a collaborative approach to the work they make there. Sam’s art embodies the mental process and physical skills of glassmaking. Blaine challenges the expectations of glass, both in scale and process. Together, they create a wide array of both functional and sculptural objects envisioned through a lens of memories and sensory experiences. Currently they reside in Nashville, TN.

Their lecture will take place April 3rd from 4pm-5pm at the Lyon County History Center and is open to the public. Please join us and we look forward to seeing y’all there!

Please join us the next day, Saturday April 4th to see Sam and Blaine create work with our students, alumni, and faculty as part of the annual Glass Blowout. Stay after the demos for an incredible auction to purchase one of a kind glass from amazing national and international artists! We take card this year and there will be a cash bar during the auction!

Live Demonstrations: 9am-12pm/1pm-4pm
Cash Bar: 4pm
Live Auction: 5pm

Thank you to Lyon County History Center for hosting us and sponsoring our Art Forum lectures for this academic year! taken in Lyon County History Center by @esuglassguild
