29 years ago, I took part in a unique race that involved running, if you made it to the finish line.

My adventure didn't last long, but I did get a trophy for my efforts.

This video includes 'highlights' from Shaw TV's coverage of the Great Nanaimo Bathtub Race.

The opening clip features my friend and former colleague @burtonmeribeth who was with CHEK TV at the time.

The Multi Grouse Grind® Challenge takes place Monday, June 22, 2026.

The goal, in addition to raising money for North Shore Rescue, is to complete as many grinds as you can between 4:00 am and 10:00 pm.

The Grouse Grind is approximately 800 m and has around 2,800 stairs over 2.5 kms. Participants take the gondola down the mountain between climbs.

I'm planning to bring a DJI Osmo 3 along during my treks up the mountain. I tested the camera and microphone recently during a training climb at Giant's Head Mountain Park in Summerland, BC.
