🔥 Alumni Word for Today

We are grateful for East Texas Baptist University alumnus Dr. Nathan Lorick ('03), Executive Director of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention in Grapevine, Texas, for sharing today's Alumni Word for Today. Thank you, Nathan, for offering biblical encouragement and wisdom to the Tiger family. We pray his reflection strengthens your faith and encourages your walk with Christ today.

📖 Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:12b
"We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."

One thing I wish I had understood as a student at ETBU is that life brings challenges to be faced, obstacles to be overcome, and unexpected circumstances that can leave us unsure of what to do.

However, just like King Jehoshaphat, we have a God we can look to.

As my journey has continued, there are many days this resonates with my soul—especially on days filled with big decisions, difficult situations, and uncertainty. In those moments, I remember this statement:

"We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You."

It reminds me that no matter what life brings, my focus must remain on the God who is sovereign.

I pray that as you read this, you will be encouraged to pause today and thank God that He is always there and always in control. You can rest in that truth.

🙏 Prayer
Lord, help me to always remember that You are steady and good. I don't have to fear because You are with me. Help me to fix my eyes on You! by @etbualumni

🏠 Feagin Hall wasn’t just a dorm—it was where memories were made. 💙💛

Late-night conversations. Roommates who became lifelong friends. Hallway laughter. Getting ready for a night out and all the little moments that made Feagin feel like home.

And, of course… there were the stories. 👀

Some generations even had stories about a certain “Feagin Man.” We won’t say too much… we’ll let those who lived there fill us in! 😂

What are YOUR favorite Feagin Hall memories? Who were your friends? What traditions, funny moments or unforgettable stories do you still remember?

👇 Share your Feagin memories in the comments! We’d love to hear them and keep these stories going for the next generation of Tigers.

And as we look toward giving future Tigers a place to make memories of their own, help us bring Feagin Hall back to life. 🐯

Mr. Jeremy Collins (’03) earned his bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in communications here on the Hill, while being very involved in campus life. Today, Jeremy serves as the head softball coach and teaches business at Magnolia West High School. Jeremy is married to another former Tiger, Candice (’03), and they have two children, Carris and Caslyn.

“God put me at ETBU for a reason! I received a quality education, served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Vice President of the Business Club, was awarded the ML Dubach Scholarship, grew as an athlete, and most importantly, grew spiritually.”
