Mumbai, you were all energy.

At ETCISO Unplugged: Box Cricket (Mumbai Edition), in collaboration with CyberPWN and Proofpoint, the cybersecurity community stepped away from conference rooms and onto the pitch.

What followed was exactly what makes this format different: fierce competition, big sixes, plenty of banter, and conversations that felt far more natural once everyone was playing on the same field.

As one conversation on the ground summed it up: when you play together, collaboration feels different.

The first Mumbai Edition brought the community closer, recharged a few batteries, and gave us plenty of reasons to do it again.

What a way to wrap up the 9th Edition of the ETCISO Annual Conclave 2026 in Goa.

From thought-provoking conversations on cybersecurity, technology and trust to unforgettable moments with Kajol Devgan, Navjot Singh Sidhu and VVS Laxman — and plenty of laughter courtesy Kiku Sharda and Sudesh Lehri — this edition gave us much more than sessions on a stage.

It brought together the people shaping the future of cybersecurity, sparked conversations that will continue well beyond Goa, and created memories both inside the conference halls and beyond them.

The stage may be closing, but the conversations are only getting started.

Some leaders command attention with noise. Others do it with calm.

At the 9th Edition of ETCISO Annual Conclave 2026, VVS Laxman, Former Indian Cricketer, joined Korak Roy, The Economic Times Business Verticals, for “The Quiet Genius” — a conversation on pressure, preparation, teamwork, leadership and the lessons cricket leaves far beyond the boundary.

A few ideas stayed with us:

→ In difficult situations, accept the reality — then focus relentlessly on what remains within your control.

→ Big challenges become manageable when they are broken into smaller targets. One ball, one over, one hour at a time can eventually change the entire game.

→ Individual milestones mean little if the larger team objective is forgotten. Great teams align very different personalities around one shared purpose.

→ Preparation is one of the few things leaders can truly control. Outcomes may vary, but disciplined preparation creates the confidence to respond when uncertainty arrives.

Laxman also reflected on how AI is strengthening modern cricket analytics by turning large volumes of data into actionable inputs — while human judgment remains essential in coaching and decision-making.

Quiet leadership is not passive. Sometimes, it is the ability to remain composed long enough for everyone around you to believe again.
