I never expected to fly across the entire world all by myself, to step into the ring in a foreign country. When I embarked on this path 6 months ago I didn’t think I’d ever be able to do it , I’d be too scared.
But the scariest moments are the small challenges along the way. Getting blood drawn is scary, going outside in the cold to run that first 5k is scary. Setting your ego aside and apologizing to the coach at your new gym is really fucking scary. The possibility of getting beat up in front of hundreds of people is scary.

But the scariest thing in the world to me, is the idea of never becoming who I want to be.

For me, this wasn’t about proving anything; it was about taking something I knew I couldn’t do, and becoming someone who could do it. Whatever was necessary to rise to the occasion.
It was a long road to get here. I Traveled 8,376 miles from home, gained and then lost over 30lbs, and logged over 150 miles on my Strava with temperatures outside ranging from 28°F all the way to 105°F.
Becoming the person capable of doing the thing was harder than doing the thing itself. By the time fight night arrived, I felt ready.
Not because I wasn’t scared, but because I had spent the last six months becoming someone that faces the things that scare me.
Fighting seems like it would be the loneliest sport in the world, but when I stepped into the ring I didn’t feel alone.
I am very thankful for my Thai coaches @lannamuaythai and my coaches back home, Ryan from @futurecombatbty and @madmaxmetzgar for supporting me the entire way. I want to thank all of the new friends I’ve made along the way, and I want to thank my opponent for pushing me to my absolute limit.
My journey is far from over.
