Over 1,614 miles driven, all kinds of food eaten, people reached, cross-cut breached, the kingdom spread on the world, and the logs were all birled. To the Arkansas sunrise to the Juliette sunset, from the hospital smells to thrift store shelves, I can indubitably proclaim this was one the most memorable spring breaks I have ever experienced.

Finished Gilmore Girls, went snow sledding on a dining hall sign, got publicly denounced by Gary Allen himself, attempted to end Rwandan genocide, became a pro in Wii bowling, slow danced with the college president, and had a book club with said president (wearing a banana suit); yea that’s a successful second semester.

I had the honor to meet many friends, leaders, and individuals who will continue to inspire me and make an impact on the world around them. On January 10th, 2022, the Georgia Bulldogs Football Team stepped into Lucas Oil stadium as the underdogs with a chance to prove they were worth the title “National Champions.”

On October 24th, 2024, the Mary Persons Timber Dawgs stepped into Lucas Oil in a similar predicament. Mary Persons has never won a national championship in school history. Four intrepid FFA members led by a Lorax-like man and a cow-punchin colleen had the chance to rewrite history. The Morgan-Monroe Forest of Indiana quivered as it beckoned the name of four canine charlatans.

Both teams were up against the best of the entire nation. Professionals who have trained their whole career to get the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their school, hometown, and their entire state at a national level. These battles could not be won as an individual. It would take cooperation, preparation, and dedication. As well as good old fashioned blood, sweat, and tears.

On both historic dates, Lucas Oil stadium was filled with nervous crowds. As the dawgs made their appearance the stadium arose.

Me and my team made sure we understood this was not by our own doing but entirely through the talents, knowledge, and opportunities our Lord God Almighty has provided us.

Lola, for your reliability when I make a mistake and your accountable agricultural wisdom

Eason, for being a friend who can keep me in line, on my toes, and always laughing

To all, holding me accountable as I work to be the man God intends me to be.
